In Óbuda an outside dilapidated once beautiful Zichy castle operates the museum. It belongs to the Petőfi Literary Museum. The interior of the villa is in better shape. The staircase leading up to the institution that is located on the first floor. It is edged with a beautifully carved bar on one side. The museum itself was a bit of a disappointment. Because Lajos Kassak wasn’t only the father of the Hungarian avant-garde and free verse, but also created nonfigurative architecture pictures as well, and a lot of other things. That I was missing, the reproduction of some of his paintings. In the showcases and on the walls, are displayed his published books and 1-2 pictures, but I would like to have some paintings hanging on the barren walls. In the present state, this exhibition is mostly for the quick-eared. There are headphones next to the wall that you can listen, but no chairs to sit down. During my visit, a lady was sitting on the floor, since she had no better choices. On an interactive display his most famous poem, “The horse dies, the birds fly away” was readable. Of course, it is wonderful to read it; I love this poem. Let me quote the end of it
” birds swallowed the sound
the trees are still singing
this is a sign of old age
but it does not mean anything
I'm KASSAK LAJOS
and the nickel samovar flies away above our head.”
The problem is, why should I go to a museum to read it?
