Welcomed into pub, until I ordered drinks! Due to language barrier the red haired worker was very rude and unfriendly. I asked for a large wine and she didn’t look very pleased as initially gave me a small one. I also asked for some extra...ice and a lemonade and she slammed my drinks onto the bar. I thanked her and didn’t even get acknowledged, one drink in here and won’t be returning. Very rude!More

Had a few drinks here and the pub had a relaxed atmosphere and well priced drinks. We stayed for over an hour, and enjoyed sitting in the booth. A great location near the Basilica.

Stopped here on the way back to our hotel for a drink or two.  No warm welcome from either of the women behind the bar, which became its own entertainment, seeing if they smiled.  The décor is nautical and gives it a cosy feel.  The...national drink Palinka was over £7 for a brandy glass size, not sure is that is an average price here in Budapest. Get used to paying service change of 12% even though this is a pub and no food was ordered.  2 pints of beer, a diet coke & a Palinka £20 including service! More

We visited this pub several times for drinks late evening. It has a good selection of beer at reasonable prices. The atmosphere was good when it was busy. Service was good overall.

We were pub and bar hopping around this part of the city when we decided to drop into The Captain Cook Pub,been here before on previous holidays to Budapest, always had a good time and so it proved on our latest visit. I love the...look of this pub, its beautiful, light and airy, a solid wood serving bar dominates the main room, pubby decor and furnishings, nice wall art, big screens to enjoy the sport and news and there's plenty of seating options spread throughout this pub both inside and outside when the weather is good, its just a really good pub to unwind in. We were here on a Thursday early afternoon, in fact we got here at midday as the pub opened so we were the first customers of the day so we could really appreciate what a great looking pub this is ,we ordered beers from Soproni Brewery, these were served in excellent condition being iced cold and sparkling and we just kicked back and took in the great pub we were in while we sipped our beers. A big fan of this famous Hungarian beer, its a golden, light and hoppy lager style beer bursting with taste and very easy to drink especially when served freezing cold as in this pub, it was just so good being in such a lovely pub enjoying a quality brew and sat with my twin brother. We really enjoyed our beers in here before we moved on and although our visit was only fleeting as on every other visit to here we had a great time. The Captain Cook Pub is easy to locate along Bajcsy Zsilinszky Utca. Opening hours are; Monday to Sunday, midday till midnight. Well worth checking out if you're in the area.More

Cook Kapitány Söröző (Captain Cook Pub) is a superb nautical themed pub that offer a fantastic food and drink's range and was one of the many pub/bars and restaurants me and my twin brother went to on our trip to Budapest. This excellent pub has...an excellent interior with nice decor and furnishings and lot's of interesting fixtures and features and great seating option's throughout the whole pub interior and superb staff who are excellent and very friendly. We went to Cook Kapitány Söröző while we where walking around this area and visited here for a few beer's.We visited early in the afternoon and even at this time it was busy but we managed to find a table. On our trip to here we had a few glasse's of beer from the Soproni brewery which where fantastic and well priced. This is a superb pub that's in a superb part of the city centre and is well worth going to and easy to get to from Bajcsy-Zsilinszky M metro stop it's a minutes walk.(This is my 1st review of Cook Kapitány Söröző). I've been visiting Captain Cook Pub for several years and have raved about their burgers. Unfortunately, there has been a noticable change in the burger itself and it was a disappointment. The service is still fantastic, I love the location, and the prices are reasonable.

I had the chicken ciabatta sandwich and it came with a huge portion of home made wedges. Delicious!!...Very well priced for what you get, a must visit!!More

Lovely nautical themed pub in a great tourist location. So much potential but staff not friendly or welcoming. Beer didn't taste good. Try the brew pub a few doors away, so much better.

Very few occasions I wish to give a zero but feel it would be appropriate. The pub is in an excellent location so it’s a big shame that the waitresses were so rude and dismissive. Ordered drinks and we asked to sit inside which seemed...to be the first issue. Waitress seemed most upset about the order we had made (2 lagers) met with eye rolls and a “really”. We quickly paid the bill, which included a very large service charge, and left. Very disappointing.More

A lovely spot to watch the traffic, both auto and people. Wonderful Aperol Spritz for reasonable price. We went back the next day and visited with the waitress. Friendly, prompt service. It had just finished raining the first time we went and they were outside...drying off table and chairs.More

Visited Budapest in December for Christmas market and passed this bar back to our accommodation. Lovely little bar and staff very friendly, especially the waiter who had worked in London. Booked a table to watch the England game( pity they lost). Lots of banter with...the French. My husband had 5he cherry beer which he loved. They also do cocktails, the mojitos were good. Had the nachos and burger. Burger a little bit over done for our taste but still edible.More

I've reviewed Captial Cook Pub before, and I'm back to say it's still my favorite lunch spot in Budapest. The service is always great and the menu offers the best burger in Budapest. This is usually our first stop when we arrive in Budapest and...we typically find our way there again one more time.More
