For years I have walked around this lake and feel privileged to have its beauty on my doorstep it nevers gets old or boring making our way down to the small fresh water stream in the woods where the kids climb the logs and find hide outs it really is a pleasure walk!

This is a perfect place for a country walk or indeed a picnic. Champagne and smoked salmon were our choice.

Lovely walk around part of the lake only downside not enough information boards to help with directions.

Lovely walk through beautiful woodland. Suitable for push chairs but quite muddy so worth sensible shoes!!

Great place to watch the fishermen. Walk your dog ( on lead) , have a walk in the woods or just come for a picnic. Nearby garden centre where you can feed the cat fish. (Huge fish ,like massive) great place for the whole family and costs nothing to enter either!

Came here with the kids and was great for cycling and scooters. Dogs on the lead but can run free when away from the lake. Good day out exploring!

This lake is always lovely to visit, even when it is cold in winter. There are always people sat around fishing and it is a great spot for a picnic. We visit often.

We spent about 3 hours here walking around and visited heavens gate. The most beautiful flowers and scenic views. I will be taking my dog next time because she would have loved it

Went for a walk around the lake on Sunday with my wife. Lovely peaceful place to walk round the lake and grounds. Has cafe at entrance (check opening hours) and nearby pub. Good for families and couples.

Briefed of visits, lunch at the tea rooms. Excellent service, good food if somewhat a limited menu.
Lake? Well didn't even walk around it, but picturesque if a little busy parking wise.

There aren’t any substantial gates. Can just walk in through forest from Centre Parcs end anyway

On a walk yesterday from Shearwater to heavens gate I noticed some elevated viewing platforms amongst the woods, anyone know if they are able to be used by anybody who walks past? Do you need to pre book? Anybody here used them? What can be seen from up there? Thanks in advance.
Does anyone know if there are toilets facilities open at Shear Water at the moment with social distancing etc? Thanks.

It is a very long walk round the lake I've never done it.
No it isn't signposted you just come to it on the left on the way to the Bath Arms.
Yes there are car parking facilities.
