Nice temple

Kongōbu-ji temple is quite big, with a nice entrance. It has several halls and alleys. It's free and it's one of Koyasan's highlights. When we were there, it was a rainy and cloudy day so we couldn't enjoy it at its highest.

Impressive Buddhist Temple.Not to be missed while in Koyasan.

The place is a very impressive Temple with outstanding wall painting, intricate layout and the biggest rock garden in Japan.
We used a free English speaking tour guide just for two of us. It was fun to chat with a local lady.
Of course, it must be visited while in Koyasan.

Came here on a cold rainy day. There are large golden Buddha statues in the shrine together with painted pilons that form a mandala around the center. Austere but beautiful. Center of Shingon (an esoteric, Tibetan-like style of Japanese Buddhism).

Great temple complex (the photo is mis misleading, that is the great Stupa,Daito)

Kongobu-ji temple is the center of the Shogun Buddhist community. There are many temples and subtemples and there is an interesting (huge) Zen Garden. Staff is highly accomodating to visitors.

The top attraction of Koyasan

Kongobuji is the head temple of Koyasan Shingon Buddhism. The screen paintings and the large rock garden are very impressive. Do spend some time sitting down in complete silence on the edge of the rock garden, you may find that you're in another world.

One night lay over and must see

This temple stands tall and majestic. The gardens and temples around it offer any photographer a canvas to create true photographic beauty.

This place was very serene to walk in; we were also treated to green tea and a delicious rice snack. You would also understand a little more about the origins of Esoteric Buddhism here, and will be treated to interesting drawings on the sliding doors.

If you visit any shrine for a moment of utter peace and relaxation, then this is it. A beautiful temple, but it is the tranquil location and a sense of inner peace that makes this place so lovely.

関西空港から車では72kmくらいの距離です。1時間20分くらい。
電車では南海特急で天下茶屋まで行って、南海高野線急行で橋本まで行ってください。そこまで80分くらい。各駅停車に乗り換えて極楽橋まで50分。南海高野山ケーブルカー（3月リニューアル）で5分。そこからは徒歩かバスで周遊してください。加油！

You can get a goshuin but I am not sure about a wooden version. Did you mean an ema, those wooden plaques? I do not remember seeing those too.
