- KerryFlorinCape Town Central, South Africa11 contributionsWe were so pleased to have done this tour. Shana was a truly wonderful guide and told us all the gripping stories associated with Rose Hall. Possibly because we went at midday (a quiet time) we were fortunate enough to be given a private tour which made it very special. We were absolutely fascinated by the rich history, not only of Rose Hall but also of the wider area as well as the brutal slave trade, the plantations and Great Houses, and of Jamaican culture. We learnt SO much. We left with a lot to reflect on and talk about. Don't just sit on the beach, GO TO ROSE HALL!Written February 10, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Kenneth PToms River, NJ48 contributionsBeautiful views, ocean water was cold and there’s a drop into the ocean before you go in which was disappointing it’s also very crowdedWritten March 3, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - David4 contributionsWe went into the mountains and were met at the driveway by the family member who walked us up a crushed quartz driveway. His father told us the long effort to create this from a cliffside on their own. Over time he terraced and his wife developed a great tropical garden. View from the top is astounding. All family members are artists and they have a small gallery on the first floor. We even fed hummingbirds from a little feeder on our finger.Written February 1, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Malcolm SFarmington, NM44 contributionsThis tour a property is definitely off of the beaten path but the trip makes the tour extra special. We learned a lot about the house & what is in it. The road getting up to the property is sketchy but is well worth it (don't be frightened off by the drive). The tour guide was fantastic. The property is beautiful & definitely well maintained. Take this tour if you have a chance.Written December 11, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Nick PMaidstone, United Kingdom66 contributionsThe purpose of our visits was to have lunch, or occasionally dinner. There's a varied menu covering mexican inspired dishes, meat and fish. The location is attractive with outdoor tables overlooking the harbour. Our first visit was on Valentine's Day and we hadn't pre-booked but were seated within 10 minutes Thereafter, getting a table was no problem without a booking. Staff were all friendly and got to know us after a few days. Service is timely, but expect dishes to be prepared to order so you may wait a little while. Enjoy the view while you wait. Taste is individual, however, for us by far and away the best dish was the curry goat, with rice and peas. Good place to go if you are not based in an all-inclusive hotel, or want a change of scene. We were never hurried to vacate our table so it was a relaxing experience at moderate prices.Written February 24, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Sarah BMiddletown, MD2 contributionsFirst of all, they get you through security quickly. Then you can shop duty free and sit in the VIP lounge before you get on the plane. t’s nice to have somewhere comfortable to sit while waiting for your flight. There is food & drink included. The food is only ok but the pineapple juice was amazingly good. The staff is very warm and friendly and the vibe is chill. They announce boarding times for Club Mobay users in the lounge
Totally worth the money if you plan to get to the airport early. A stress free environment to hang out in while you wait for your flight.Written March 17, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. There are some impressive murals to be seen and a giant waterwheel in a pleasant garden at the end of the street but unless you are a serious browser the whole street can be visited in 30.mins. We only went as our hotel offered a free shuttle, but there are certainly no bargains to be had and personally I would pay a taxi to take me.Written January 11, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Kim BWesterville, Ohio, United States7 contributionsUnexpected gem of a day seeing Jamaica in a way that tourists at the resorts don't get to experience. Wonderful hike (I use a cane but was able to handle the terrain) along the historic aqueduct through the lush tropical vegetation. Finished with a refreshing dip in the cool clean spring water of Jamaica's "oldest pool".
For an added personal touch and enhanced experience, contact Joseph McLeod who grew up on the preserve. He knows every crook and cranny, the vegetation and animals, the people, and the history like it was his own backyard. Actually, it was his backyard. Joseph can be reached at (876) 531-5898. A friendly engaging young man who bent over backwards to make sure our trip was as good as it could be.Written June 21, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
