We have visited the Cliffs of Negril a few times now and it never gets old. Spoiling ourselves at the Rockhouse Hotel, I experienced some of the best snorkeling I've ever done, other than a few jelly fish stings, which were not serious, it's something to be experienced. So many things to see under the beautiful blue ocean. So many caves to explore. Can't wait to go back in February again!! Ya mon!

Negril is THE place to be. Montego Bay and Ocho Rios can stay with their hordes of tourists but this is the spot to be if you want to be in nature, mingling with the locals and doing some unusual activities.

It you are in Negril, catch a cab to Xtabi in the cliffs. This is a bar/restaurant with a terrace and lawn chairs overlooking the amazing ocean! You are able to take the stairs down into the caves (for free) and jump into the water. There are ladders to help you climb up. Enjoy some food and drinks while spending an afternoon in an unique and beautiful location.

Fabulous afternoon of lunch and snorkelling. This location provides you with a very good restaurant and drinks while you watch the tour boats the beautiful clear water. Down the stairs is where you can get into the water to explore underwater life in all its glory. I could have been in these waters for hours.

As a sun and sand aficionado this was my first time having a cliff beach experience... and WOW. Seeing the ocean off the cliffs is breathtaking. Really really exceptional stuff. After spending a week hanging in the West End i'm officially a Cliff side kinda gal! Lots of great places to pop in, have a drink, idle awile and take in the view.

Great time. Visited Ricks, but just wasn't for us (too crowded). The 3 Dives restaurant offered the same fantastic sunset and fantastic local fair. The next night we went the the "Catch a Shooting Star" hotel to eat on the same cliffs (two down from Rick's) The food and ambiance was beyond compare, very romantic and highly recommended.
The shopping in Negril was a little sparse but well worth the walk around town. Stay AWAY from Sunjam Trading, he is a total crook. Most of the stuff can be bought cheaper at the Airport and he ripped us off for over $100 US while telling us it was a lot less. Wasn't until after we realized he had jacked up the prices at the cash.
Make sure you take the time to walk 7 mile beach, it's fantastic.

Go to any of the fabulous restauraunts or bars, get a drink or meal and take a dip in the crystal clear waters off the Cliffs. Be sure to bring your own snorkel gear. There are caves near Xtabi, Rockhouse, PushCart and Sunset on the Cliffs. Sunset also has a Dive Shop if you are interested in that sort of thing.

How far of a drive is this from Montego Bay?

90 minutes by car/taxi, with traffic. 70-80$. Public buses are longer. A long way for a day trip, suggest staying in Negril, T-Bird on the Cliffs is convenient and reasonable.

My family booked a place at the 7 mile beach but we are looking forward on doing some cliff jumping during our stay. I wanted to avoid the crowds of Rick's Cafe and have been searching for a place more low key to do the dives and snorkeling. I found the restaurant Xtabi. Does anyone have recommendations of other restaurants or hotels that will allow us to dive? We do have a toddler and a 9 year old with us so it would have to be a kid friendly place.

Xtabi was a nice place to stay as well. Low key. And only a 5 minute $10 round trip drive to Ricks Cafe. Windy roads so don’t walk

Rick Cafe is AT the Cliffs. There are divers there to dive from different heights. They collect donations for them to climb higher up, then dive into swirling, agitating waters below! It's hard to believe anyone comes out of those waters alive!

Could not pay me enough! I did a baby cliff at Catcha down the road in mild water. That was it for me.

I feel the prices are a tad high, but moreso, the crowd gets thick the closer it gets to viewing the sunset...hence we had to leave before our food ever arrived... partly be a use we were a large group travelling via bus... but if you are on your own travel time; relax, enjoy the crowd & music, food & drinks....and party on!

Hi, vitalsign. What would you like to know about this attraction? We are staying at Rui Tropical Bay Palace in Negril. What is the best excursion for our family to take in order to enjoy swimming and jumping at the cliffs? Also can anyone jump off the cliffs, I have very daring boys 9 and 12. Thank You

Go to Negril escape and you can spend the day hanging around the pool and jumping off the cliffs. The have a restaurant on site and a tower to jump from . There's a restaurant across the street that has awesome food. It's not a 4 star but we stayed here for 4 days and will be returning for 7 next March . Make sure you stay for the sunset

Couples Swept Away, just along the beach from Sandals.
This hotel is perfect ,the restaurants are very good, the food is fresh and varied. The garden varandah rooms are just lovely set in beautiful gardens and quite. We felt safe here as they have security guards along the beach who take your names and room numbers ,also beach vendors are friendly and leave you alone if your not interested, they are kept to the waters edge. The staff are all friendly and heplfull
