Last night I told the landlord that a comment he had made sounded prejudiced. He suddenly got very angry and started shouting at me and said I had to leave. I am a 5 foot one woman who is usually reserved and quiet spoken. I got such a fright by his overreaction that I burst into tears and could not stop crying. I’ve never felt so humiliated in my life and I’ve certainly never been thrown out of the pub before. The other ladies that were with me were also shocked and disgusted at his overreaction and way of speaking to a woman. Geoff should not be allowed to speak to people this way especially in his line of work. As a grown adult, if there is a difference of opinion, one would expect a discussion rather than verbal abuse.

Never been in a pub before where a nice barmaid pours a lovely half of stout then a moose of a manager pours about a triple spirt measure off the top into another glass as it had been apparently overfilled then proceeds to drink the ‘extra’ in front of me. Absolutely outrageous. I shall never cross the threshold again and strongly advise all Camra members and beer lovers to do the same.

I am not the type to moan or complain and generally let things go, however, I feel so strongly about this. We used to frequently visit the Pantiles in the summer months and came across the Pantiles Tap, situated off the main Pantiles itself. We loved this find, a quirky environment with helpful friendly staff, (although the old lady who we presumed was the landlady was a bit of an acquired taste and we couldn't see her attitude or language lasting in Tunbridge Wells) and we'd go a lot in the late afternoons and evenings across the weekend with friends and occasionally some Thursdays. It always had people sat at the bar, we assume regulars and they'd chat and be friendly and overall was a nice pub with great a fabulous choice of beer.

However, we've visited it four or five times over the last month or so and sadly this place has gone down hill and fast! The calibre of regulars are loud, noisy and arrogant, the bar staff has changed and we didn't recognise anyone, it appeared to look like it was run by kids who made us laugh asking two lads for ID when the young boy serving looked 16 maximum, who knew nothing about beer and the beer itself totally sub standard. The place looked dull, dirty and the ladies toilet was DISGUSTING and some of the men in our group said it was the same in the gents.

On our last EVER visit a we did see the old man and lady (who has the attitude) working but she didn't seem bothered to talk, looked at us like dirt and the old guy just never looked up from his mobile phone.

This was once a beautiful find for myself and our friends and we would of one time highly recommended it, sadly now its become just like the the other pubs dotted around the Pantiles, who offer mediocre over priced beer with kids serving you and the hard smell of cannabis outside!

I don't know what's gone wrong to the place, it was a gem of a cellar bar and the old staff really had charisma, charm and took time to chat and had manners. Something this place totally lacks now.

Totally avoid unless like overpriced mediocre craft beer, attitude, noise and obnoxious behaviour and that's just the staff!!

Been meaning to visit this place for sometime especially as a lot of cider producers that I know are stocked here. And the cider is very lovely as was the very helpful young man serving us. Unfortunately, the lady behind the bar was not so much especially when we accidentally ordered two sodas waters . A lot of not very discreet swearing and nastiness about us ensued. Just as well this place is popular and, therefore, doesn't need any further custom. Although with so many great places to drink in Tunbridge Wells I can't help but wondering how long they can get away with this type of behaviour to their customers. It would seem regulars only are welcome.

We've been here a few times with the kids to sit outside for a drink, but no more this is all down to the nasty / unpleasant treatment we've had at the hands of the older woman there (presumably the manager or owner). Because of her manner we have decided to take our money elsewhere. As an example, on the last visit, it was a Thursday early evening (about 6pm from memory) and I went in to order my husband a second drink - she rudely said to me you have to have a plastic cup and I said oh why and she said because Jazz night is starting and we are only allowed to sell in plastic now. I said, okay no problem and as I was waiting for my transaction to go through another customer (presumably a regular) walked in and right in front of me she got a large glass pint glass and served him in glass and he said 'I thought it was plastic now' and she said to him 'that's fine' literally *right in front of me*. She has no idea about customer service. So no more. If this woman isn't the owner then the owner should get rid of her - if she is the owner she should keep well away from the public as she is her own worst enemy. Never again - horrible woman. The older bloke (maybe co-owner) is very nice though.

This had a good range of ciders, craft beers & ales, down stairs just off the back of the pantiles (see pic). Certainly potential to be really good, but we were served by an older women obviously having a bad day. She was writing prices on a scrap of paper, then got annoyed when we removed 1 of our drinks from the bar! We pointed out that 2 drinks were wrong, yet she grumbled when asked for them to be corrected, implying WE had ordered, then changed our minds!!!!

Instead of staying for further drinks, we swiftly moved on after 1 round. The drinks were fine, once we got the correct ones, but 1 staff member obviously needs help with customer service- or training in what it is!!!

A great favourite if ours from our last trip to RTW. Great service at the bar. The Great Wall of Cider. It was very busy which was great to see. Seating inside and out. Situated very close to The Pantiles shopping arcade.

We stumbled upon this beautiful bar and are so glad we did! We stayed until closing as the hospitality from Jay, Kate and Lizzy was fantastic and they were so welcoming. There is an amazing selection of ales and other drinks including prosecco and we had a brilliant time chatting and getting to know the local area.

Cannot rate this place highly enough! Thank you for a wonderful evening!

If you like beer and a friendly atmosphere this is a place to visit. A choice of local and international beers. Owners are very friendly and have a great knowledge of the beers and spirits they sell.

I loved my visit here when the knowledgeable owner was around when I wanted a rest after a train ride before getting a bus to visit my daughter. It is unusual, innovative and a great use of the the space
