Neighborhood: Montparnasse
The namesake tower of Montparnasse dominates over the landscape but the fun part is the throbbing life that goes on below it. Bright lights, busy cinemas, brasseries and diners encompass hidden museums and parks to entertain the masses. Long avenues lead away from the tower to take you to unsuspecting places and historical monuments and treasures. In between lie adorable ivy-covered houses with beams and small gardens to match. Just a short metro ride away from the center of Paris this neighborhood has something for every hour of the day.

We had the morning free before heading home.Found this on a certain search engine map page. Easy walking distance from hotel. Wonderful place. Incredible sculptures. Ranging from busts to impressively large exhibits spread over several buildings and gardens. Interesting displays showing various sculpture methods. With a very pleasant cafe thrown in all in all a very nice ( free !! ) end to our mini break.

This museum is fantastic. Bourdelle did some really large sculptures and this museum has them all. I believe that the sculptor worked with Rodin at some point in time. The museum is a little hard to find but because it’s owned by city of Paris, there is no entrance fee. Another great free museum is Petite Palais.

First of all, this museum is free! This museum is not as busy as other centralized Paris museum. It is a bit off the grid but it is still reachable by metro.
Bourdelle was a student of Rodin so if you do enjoy sculpture, this is a real treat for you. It is a smaller museum than Rodin but the collection is pretty amazing.

With a lot of great big sculptures, by a hugely talented artist. The place (which was the artist's atelier) is a revelation, and a delight to wander through. Antoine Bourdelle's "Herakles" has more power, tension and living breathing energy in it than any martial figure I've ever seen (in my admittedly limited experience). And Bourdelle's monumental (as in two stories high) Mary presenting her divine infant is probably the fiercest, least sappy Madonna and child ever sculpted. Plus which the sculpture garden is a wonderful place to chill. And if you check out the smaller galleries tracing his career, you'll discover how some of Bourdelle's long, slim later work strongly influenced one of his star pupils, Modigliani. Visiting this museum was the most enjoyable morning we spent in Paris.

Dedicated to the art of Bourdelle, mostly about bronze sculpture; this place located into a small street was also in the past is workplace. Modern and gigantic, these sculptures are impressive. I really appreciated the place where you can follow on a screen the full birth of a bronze sculpture; a process by far more complex than what I thought.
A place to discover.
(Side note: this fashion exhibition has nothing to do here but that’s probably a way to attract more people)

A great museum with a beautiful collection.
An artist atelier, the temporary exhibition is quite good.

Visit it if you are next to Montparnasse.

So we all know and love Rodin his work and his museum. But very few know his associate Bourdelle but should.
His Musee is less frequented but worth the visit. The location is his original workshop and it’s been left so you feel like your jumping back a 100 years. But it’s the enormous size of his work that initially takes your breath away. My 2 favourites are both his hero’s Rodin (found in the courtyard) and Beethoven.

Attractive free museum with very pleasant gardens. You do not
have to be a sculpture enthusiast to enjoy this museum. In good
weather the gardens, with their statues, are very pleasant to visit
and relax in, especially as the museum does not attract a large
number of visitors. Bourdelle was a pupil of Rodin and is said to
have bridged the period between naturalism and a more
geometrically conceived style. We have visited it twice on our
visits to Paris and enjoyed it on both occasions.

We step in Bourdelle Museum by chance. Although it is not one of the top museums in Paris, we found this little museum full of charm and amazing art works. We were lucky and arrived at the time when a guided tour started. The guide was so passionate with his narratives and stories, we loved it! It's a very local museum that you should definitely visit if you like sculptures.
