Give it a chance/ wake up La Mairie

This area has traditionally been a run down, poor neighborhood, surrounded by low income housing high rises and with rising local crime, most recently crack dealing. There is a lot of this in this new garden, with people shooting up and smoking base, with not a whole lot of police presence. Quite a shame as new residents, drawn by cheaper rents and new nicely designed social housing units, have nowhere to walk their children or dogs because the garden has just become scummy.Hopefully the local authorities will do something about this one day and not just create a new park for photo opportunities and then just leave it to disintegrate and become dangerous.

Dangerous Park
2015. jún. • Egyszemélyes
I traveled to Paris with my dog, and we were staying in the 18th near the Marcadet- Poissonniers metro. I found this park on a French list of dog-friendly parks, and the pictures I initially googled looked beautiful. When we got there, it would not have been more different. First off, dogs are NOT allowed (pretty common in most French parks). Secondly, this is the scariest neighborhood/ park I have ever seen. There were people sleeping in rags all over the park, police were walking around monitoring everything. My dog and I immediately left, the neighborhood as a whole had a very unkempt appearance. I advise staying away from this area, do not bring children here.

Dangerous Tent City
2015. máj. • Romantikus
Walking down Boulevard De La Chapelle from Boulevard Barbes in the direction of Rue Marx Dormoy; I have not felt more in-danger in my whole trip to Paris, there is a tent city set up under the railway tracks and groups of vagrants and shady looking people milling around.

We witnessed a large group swarming on a pile of clothes that appeared to be a looted suitcase next to a stationary tour bus

We calmly and walked passed and turned off Boulevard De La Chapelle as soon as we could.

I feel we were lucky to get away with our belongings
