There are many basilicas, churches, temples, synagogues, and other places of worship that will leave one in awe of their magnificent architecture and spectacular decor. Then, there are tiny wonders like this one. It is every bit as beautiful its mammoth cousins, but it has the added bonus of not being packed with tourists.

So small but so beautiful. Calm and rich with treasure from great art to a wonderful tableau of the street conjured up in tiny and perfect scale. A place for contemplation and quiet pleasure. Music added to the aura of a place away from the mass of humanity outside.

Located at the end of a small piazza, this small neighbourhood church is well worth a visit.

We visited on evening while there was a Mass underway so we didn’t really explore it, but we could see enough from the back to appreciate the beauty.

Old and still very much in use, it’s worth the visit if you are in the area.

It is an old, tiny, tranquil Roman Catholic church, on top of a short climb in the area that once housed the booksellers (librari), hence its name.
It is very close to Campo de' Fiori, squeezed between taller and intruding buildings on each side.
It has two storeys, and is rather alarmingly crooked with the second storey leaning slightly to the right.
It looks awesome from the outside, and it is very beautiful inside as well.
Noteworthy: - The Tryptich of Madonna and child with John the Baptist and Archangel Michael (1453) by Leonardo da Roma.
- The Chapel of the Crucifix with a wooden 14th century crucifix placed over a very damaged fresco by Luigi Garzi with Madonna and St John on the Calvary.
The church has been restored recently.
It is small jewel hidden behind Campo de' Fiori.
If you find it open, it's worth a visit!
Next door there is always a line of people waiting to savor best battered cod fillets in the nearby shop "Dar Dilettaro".

This is a tiny little church built out of a space at the end of a dead end street, out of the ruins of the Theatre of Pompey. It appears to have been squeezed into the space, with one window on one side, the other being a false window (and as you can see from the outside, on the left, a house is built right up to the church). It is a modest yet charming church, painted inside with various colors in a manner to simulate marble. There is a very pretty little side chapel, as well as a diorama model of the street in older times. If you look over the entrance, there's a small organ there. The saint's sculpture on the facade is particularly well done. I was surprised to find it open yesterday evening, watched over by a pleasant docent, and a few people took the opportunity to see this little gem or to come and pray in a peaceful and contemplative quiet.

Santa Barbara dei Librari is a small church located near to Campo di Flori . It is quite difficult to find due to her hidden position. The church is surrounded by cafes. I cannot enter the church as I arrived there too early.

A restored baroque chapel, built into the ruins of the teatro Pompeii and a special Summer outdoor restaurant serving fried cod fish. Always full of locals.

This church is a hidden gem in Roma. The trompe-l'oeil "marble" walls are stunning! I love the fact that it is filled with such beautiful art, even though it is such a tiny place. If you are lucky enough to find it open, take a moment to step inside, light a candle, and enjoy.
