The museum is north to the Vatican, far from the tourist attraction, and located in something like a small community center - which means you must travel there by public transportation.
We visited such a museum in Berlin (which was great) , so we could compare.
We arrived in the evening, the place was infested with mosquitos ( all 4 of us got our blood sucked). Most of the computers/machines were turned off - as far as I can remember, only a few machines worked. The place had maybe 5 other visitors, and the worked were busy installing what seemed to be VR hardware.
It might be (and hopefully it is) better today, but a year ago it was very disappointing and a waste of time.

10 euros per person for a 24 hour ticket.
It's far from everything else touristic, and not worth the trip.
It's in a cave (but not a cool-gaming-cave) and it's not well organized.
Sure, you can play arcade and see a few old games. That's fun. But that's it.

They have some solid pieces of collection in there, but what...a...mess.

First of all, it's really small.

The collection is badly organized, consoles and computers are put in some random order behind glass.

It's lacking a ton of video games history, and it really emphasizes on very old computers and consoles (C64, vectrex, Atari, etc...)

A lot could be done to put more documentation, and enlighten that nice collection they have here.

I've been to several video games museums in different countries, and many had that "passionate vibe".
I didn't feel it here.

Side-note :
On Tuesday and Thursday, they advertise virtual reality.
The reality : a small room with one occulus rift on which you can try a 3min ride or a psVR on with you can play a quick game of beat saber. Why not.

My girlfriend had never tried virtual reality so she was excited to try it for the first time.
She tried a 3min gunfight scene, and after that I asked the staff guy if she could try the rollercoaster.
He refused ("one ride per person only"), which I could easily understand if the museum was full, but it was absolutely empty and nobody was waiting (we were like 6 people total in the whole museum).

It was sad to see someone working in a business that should be about passion that wasn't wanting to transmit that passion to someone excited by the novelty.

I was expecting a "video game museum", it was a disappointment.

If you are just expecting the ability to play some arcade machines, then it's ok then.

My 9 years old son was insisting to visit the video game museum thus we arrange as per his wish.
Museum is located far away from the centre thus you need taxi to find it. Place is very small thus is not considered as museum in my opinion.
People that operating the place in my opinion are not showing any interest to help you or to explain you anything for the place.
You are free to play the video games but some of them are not working!
I even ask to arrange for me a taxi by the time we were leaving and they told me that they can not help!!

We found this place as a rainy day activity near to our apartment.
It has 80 docks you can play retro, classic and the more modern games on. Consoles, PC and retro arcade machines are all playable as well as a short go using the Oculus Rift.

When we arrived there was a problem loading some of the machines. The reception guy deducted €5 off our entry for the 10 minute delay. It wasn't much of a problem but a nice gesture.

We played some games and relived some classic games such as pitfall, PAC man and a few other Atari classics.

There was a 30 minute wait to play on the Oculus Rift despite no one occupying the room at all!

If you want to get your geek on and beat the kids at their own game then this is worth a visit. 2 adults and one child entry is €20. Games are all free to play.

It doesn't beat the National Video Game Arcade in Nottingham UK but was nice to visit.

Maybe the running of the place could be a little more slick but was a good experience none the less.

We spent several hours here this afternoon and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The exhibits were in both English and Italian and were fascinating. AS someone with a museum studies background, I was impressed by the detailed, informative labels. I earned all sorts of interesting tidbits about the history of video games. Our 13 year old daughter was in paradise, as they also have over 50 games that visitors can play for free, everything from pac man and arcade games to highly realistic, more contemporary games for group play. They also have a virtual reality room, and each guest is allowed to play one of the virtual reality games there--quite fun! The staff was friendly and helpful, and the director of the museum came and introduced himself (they don't get a lot of foreign visitors, though I am sure they were get tons of people if they were not located in Rome where there are so many competing historic sites). All in all, if you are in Rome and want to reward a teen with something they will be excited about, take them here!

I was impressed with the collection of games and consoles, and they have done a good job of presenting the history of the industry. It was an enjoyable walk back in time. Given that it is marketed as a museum, it is probably set up too much with youth in mind as opposed to an “adult” museum, but I can understand the tension in positioning in the market. Could use a little cleaning and upkeep, but it was fine. Worth the money for the uniqueness, if gaming is of interest. Being able to play and original Atari ET game was a riot...their display of the New Mexico landfill was great.

My son felt like home because he could play. The word "museum" is too big for this place. I would call it "arcade". No explanations, no one telling us a word. Actually no one even explained us tjere was "oculus" and how it worked so we missed it.
Avoid it, not worth the euros we paid.

After dragging our 14-year-old son through sighseeing days he'll appreciate more when he's home, we gave him the treat of our vacation with a visit to Vigamus. The display of vintage video games, many of which can be played, was a welcome break for him -- one he told his grandparents was the highlight of his trip. The staff is helpful and patient. It was a good find for a vacation otherwise geared toward education.
