- Sarah LLondon, United Kingdom3,054 contributionsConfusing but usefulBologna Centrale has great connections to most cities in Italy. We travelled from the airport to Centrale and then from there to Firenze. It is a big station and the platforms are randomly located. Ours ended up being quite far downstairs. The other confusing thing is the signage- sometimes pointing to one place in two directions, etc. However, it was a great station to connect from.Visited April 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten April 12, 2023
- Corey FMount Pleasant, Michigan26 contributionsBologna Train StationThe station is well organized with abundant signage, but was a little confusing at first as our train arrived at the station at what appeared to be five levels below ground level. Finding our way to ground level took a minute. However, for departures the signage to both find which track your train was on and then finding the platform was very easy.Visited April 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten May 3, 2023

- Angelo SHilliard, Ohio3,630 contributionsSmall Station for Many TrainsLarger City train station with many trains coming and going each day. South side of the station is the traditional Stazione/main station and the North side is the termination point for the Marconi Express to the airport. The main station is not very large for as big of a city as Bologna is. A couple of snack bars, a news stand, and a Burger kind. Bus station biglietteria it to the left as you are facing the main station. Station has a typical layout with a large Arrivals/Departure board in the main lobby, a ticket window and a number of automated ticket kiosks. The main assistance point is in the center of the lobby. Binari are reached via the underground hallway that also connects both side of the station. Make sure to check out the memorial just outside the station to the people who lost their lives during the terrorist bombing on 2 August 1980.Visited October 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten November 17, 2023

It was built in 1858 when Italy was not a unique state as it’s now. Bologna was on the border between the Papal state and the Austrian-Hungary state. It is a functional rail station connected to the city centre by bus, taxi or just walk 10-15 minutes to wherever you need to go. Rail tickets can be booked online, through mobile app or at the self-use ticket machines at the station. Departures and arrivals are clearly listed just upon entering the station, signage to the various platform is easy to follow. There are a few casual eateries, coffee and food shops at the station as well as across the street at the shopping arcade as well.Visited February 2024Traveled with familyWritten March 17, 2024

Visiting for the day from Florence this was an easy station to navigate around. Lots of signage to the different platforms. Once you know the platform number from the big screen off you go….

I was robbed at the roundabout close to this station early on the 31.12.23 a young thug snatched my phone right out of my hand and sped away. I would advise anyone to stay away from Bologna. I'm well traveled and have been in places such as Venezuela and South Africa and this was the first time I was robbed . The thieves are world class in Bologna. I reported it to the police but I was told this is just the culture in Bologna. There is nothing worthwhile to see in Bologna I would recommend visiting anywhere else unless your interested in learning about crime. Also there are no signs in the city to direct tourists to the main square or to the train station and all the porticos are just designed to aid all the thieves. Uber doesn't work in Bologna. I have never been to the Central African Republic but I think it would be safer and better developed than Bologna

The worst ever service at this train station. Incomplete instructions and directed us to a wrong train. If you can travel via any other router please do so, staff rude and give wrong instructions. Our train got cancelled, got instructed to get on another one - that then ended up not stopping at the station we wanted to as the whole station was closed. A nightmare trying to get to the final destination from there. Worst ever customer service.

Absolutely awful train station! Incredibly poorly laid out with platforms that are horribly, barely and confusing labelled. Avoid if at all possible!

Buongiorno.
