If you want to experience the pure lifestyle, clothes, cuisine of the region, you should definitely pay a visit for this museum, you need at least 1,5 hours. Like other museums in the city, closed on Mondays.

We had visited all the art museums and had a spare afternoon and decided to come here. What a brilliant decision! We had a wonderful experience and essentially got a guided tour. We do speak Italian (not fluently) and the lady was so keen to talk to us about the exhibits. There are sections on weaving, medicines, religion, clothes, woodworking etc. It is very well set out. Don't let a lack of Italian put you off as they do have an English leaflet.
The best visit of our holiday.
Grazie mille!

Another museum I hear you say! That is sort of what I was thinking when we arrived at what turned out to be an incredible space to visit.
The building is airy and light. A relatively new structure, with disabilty access and an old canal running along-side the entrance way.
Though there is a large selection of local exhibition to view my absolute favourite was the reconstructed room on the top floor. This exhibits the ceiling, fireplace, sideboards and dinning table and chairs from a plazzo centurirs old.
My only regret was the lack of English translation, but not many english speaking tourists come to this city.

The displays range from the common to the unusual. Items like glass bits and wooden tools are nothing you haven't seen before. Information about the crafts and religion of the area are very interesting. What made the experience special was the staff member who accompanied us on the +1 and +2 floors. I assume his presence is to answer questions and to keep an eye on things, but the day we visited, the museum was very quiet, and he was able to spend a good deal of time with us. At first, it seemed hopeless, because my Italian is poor, and he seemed to speak only a few words of English. As time went on, we both became bolder. My Italian stayed pretty bad, but his English was quite good. I certainly appreciated the effort he made to communicate. The information he provided added a new dimension to the experience, as did his enthusiasm for the display and his friendliness. When you are in Udine, go. The museum is definitely worth the time and admission fee. The fee is currently 5 Euros general admission, and 2.5 Euros for seniors. There were other discounts, but I don't recall what they were.

I went in on a whim and am so glad I did. The upstairs exhibits on fiber arts were fascinating. The kitchen and medical sections were also great. This is a great museum to get a sense of everyday life in the region, particularly life in the late 1800s.

a very compact and hands on museum that should probably be on everybody's list of museums to visit in Udine. Some of the displays are in Italian; it is all about Friulian culture and lifestyles of the Roman era and makes for an interesting afternoon out of the heat of the July sun.
