Casa Cavazzini is located at Via Cavour- right at the heart of Udine, 5-10 minutes walk from anywhere you are in town. While you are there, it is also very convenient to visit Castello di Udine, Piazza Liberta, Piazza Matteotti, Museo del Duomo and the cathedral itself, all 5 minutes apart from one another.
The ground floor is for temporary exhibitions, permanent pieces are at the first and second floor.
Many hidden pieces of contemporary art from 19th and 20th century artists- from Valencia's famous Joaquin Sorolla to Udine born Ugo Flumiani- "Ora d'or" is worth seeing!
The fun part of visiting this particular museum is that you get to see the home of the family as well. Once you are surrounded by masterpieces, in your next step you are in the kitchen and bathroom of Cavazzini's - a quick look at the lifestyle and architecture of the '50s. The dining room is beautiful with restorated frescos on the walls.
The couple didn't have any kids so when they died the house itself and the collection inside was given to the municipality with their previous orders.
I was lucky enough to visit the museum with someone from the staff- shame i didn't get his name- he was very helpful taking me through the casa and the museum.
Keep in mind: 1) all info is in italian though no problem, the staff do their best to help.
2) This one and all other museums in Udine are closed on Mondays according to winter timetable effective as of Oct 1st.

This museum, located in Udine's center, features it's temporary exhibits on the ground floor, and the permanent exhibits on the upper floors. The emphasis is on artworks (mainly paintings) from the region - in general, very worthwhile. A critical comment is that one easily may loose his/her way in this historical building.

I enjoyed my hour exploring the museum. It is not huge but there are some interesting pieces from Italy and the US and the building itself is fascinating, with original murals on show as well as some of the rooms still as they were when it was a house in the 1930s.

For large paitings is not good because there aren't big walls. Nice recovery excavations but don't expect you a mega museum. You can visit up to nine/ten during evening, good.

This is an historical house, which has on one floor some old and really nice medieval frescos. In my view, this alone was worth the ticket. Regarding the exhibitions we found some good paintings of the 1900s' too.

It looked nothing special on the outside, but when we were guided in, we had to walk across the galleries to arrive at the function hall. The art pieces we passed were OK, but the function hall where we were served our standing cocktail style dinner was excellent and elegant.

The museum itself is the result of the transformation of an existing historical building by leading Italian architect Gae Aulenti. The result is well worth a visit and I spent about 2 hours here, hardly any other visitors were present which is a pity. Modern sculpture and art works are displayed along side 14th century affrescos. Great lighting to help appreciate the exhibits which are of extremely high quality including De Chirico, Guttoso and Mirko Basaldella. This gallery really deserves more visitors! the entry fee is mimimal only 5 euros.

I am not big in modern and contemporary art. But this museum settled into an historic house made it worth the visit. There were several exhibitions and different areas to visit and explore. Overall a recommended place. Very friendly and helpful staff.
