This castle sits beautifully along Rapallo's beach front.
It is the main symbol of the town and it has been declared as a national monument by the Cultural Ministry. A mediaeval castle that was built in 1551 after an incursion by the Turkish pirate Dragut in 1549.

Especially in the evening, when the Castello di Rapallo is lit, take a walk on the promenade… There are nice cafes right across it so you can sit and enjoy a glass of wine and view the Castello….

The Castello is situated right on the seafront in Rapallo - and you can rent apartments in it! The entire seafront of Rapallo is nothing less than a joy to walk along - even at midnight it's crowded and great for people-watching. Highly Recommended.

Taking in the many sights of Rapallo is the Castello Di Rapallo. Strolling along the boardwalk , unfortunately when we were visiting Rapallo the area was having renovations. It was still very interesting to see and the area had many wonderful cafes, restaurants and hotels to visit.

If you don’t mind bright orange fencing blocking off the entry due to construction needed after the storm, to be visible in photos of this landmark beauty, then you’re ok. It’s closed.

If you take a walk along the main waterfront promenade you can’t miss it. At that end of the promenade, renovations were taking place and it seemed like the Castle was temporarily closed - that was in the very early evening as we went out for a drink (many bars/restaurants nearby); a pity because we heard there’s free entry to an exhibition inside. Sure this Castle has a very interesting history too...reminds me to further investigate. Rapallo is a lovely small city - very pedestrian friendly in the centre and historic laneways with no cars; however, once you get to the roads with traffic (a 5 min walk from centre) do take care as rules on many Italian pedestrian crossings seem to be more like what happens in many parts of Asia/some parts of Europe, some cars/motor cyclists give way and some don’t even when you have a “walk” at the lights.

A beautiful old Castello, used for an art exhibition during our time in Rapallo. Very impressive and worth the visit.

Wonderful when it is illuminated in the evening, they use modern machines to electrically
light fires and ultra -precise fuses "to light up" the wonderful castle of Rapallo.. it looks
like in ancient times, as far as smoking stripes of black powder with canons and fire
crackers firing along them.

We were recommended this restarting/bar but was slightly disappointed. Great location, and we had a table outside on a very warm evening. The wine was very nice, but the bruschetta menu was a little lacking.

Conviene chiedere direttamente in comune
