If you are fed up with all the historical and religious buildings in milan then visit this area of modernness. Located right opposite the porta garibaldi station this is home to the unicredit building the tallest building in milan. There are also some car showrooms and a large water feature in the centre of the piazza.

Named after an Italian architect Gae Aulenti (who is not the designer of this piazza), this pedestrian cum shopping square located in the Porta Nuova business district is the epitome of modernity in a city more well-known for its medieval architecture. The piazza’s contemporary symbol is further enhanced by the surrounding modern buildings, including IBM Studios and UniCredit Tower, the tallest skyscraper in Italy at 231 meters. The presence of the fountains at the centre of the piazza provides the perfect backdrop for citizens and tourists to shop, dine or just relax and experience the “bella vita” life to the fullest.

Modern piazza with shops and restaurants. It had a really chilled out feel to it, much more relaxed than the hustle and bustle of central Milan. The Parco Biblioteca degli Alberi is right next to the Piazza and is a great place for a picnic or just to lie in the sun/shade and relax for a bit. I highly recommend an afternoon here if you’ve had enough of galleries/churches/shopping.

I lived in Milan for 4 years but last time i visited it was more than 10 years ago. I left this area with a parking and dismissed parks and now it's incredible. It's a very modern achitecture that puts MIlan at the same level of other modern cities. It is well designed, build, it's really the image of Milan in the future as many other European Capitals.
A wonderful surprise

this area is now connected to corso como with more shops opening. The buildings at the piazza with the water feature makes it a good place to chill after shopping or simply strolling for photo op. The Replay jean store cum restaurant is here. I had a latte and croissant there. the shopping experience at Replay was very good. No hard selling. The staff let you shop at your own pace. if you required assistance, they were more than willing to help. Even the slightest query was answered. They knew their products well. The female SA also helped me put aside all things i have chosen while i had my latte while taking a break from shopping. Good job. While walking around the piazza i tried the ice cream from one of the shops selling chocolates. The Aztec flavour was amazing. highly recommended.

Beautiful example of modern architecture in Milan, with fantastic buildings and a big central fountain. Under the square there is a food court where you can go to eat and near the square there is a beautiful park. Here there is also the highest building in Italy, Unicredit tower.

Came here as I was in the district of Centro Direzionale to see all the wonderful modern acrhitecture. The Piazza Gae Aulenti is a circular public square, encircled by modern glass fronted office blocks and skyscrapers. Lots of nice shops, cafes and restaurants here. The buildings are pretty too.

The square was built in 2012 and got its name in honor of the architect Gae Aulenti. There is a fountain in the center of the square, and modern buildings and shopping centers are located around.

Piazza Gae Aulenti is the latest addiction to Milan architectural landscape and it got immediately the Prim donna stars on it. It is magnificent and dedicated to a great architect, this location is embracing the new path of the town that since expo has been highly revamping.
There seems to be lots going on and there are bars and restaurants as well as a nice supermarket. It's right next to Porta Garibaldi railway station. This part of Milan was ugly and almost dangerous. Then they re-qualifies it and now this has become the starting point for a huge architectural modernization of the city.
I love this place: it's the real old idea of a square, which is round, with no edge better than the other, with all the businesses watching at the centre, where you have a nice fountain. Everything is smooth and elegant and the buildings are not identical, but they're all well blended. There are offices, businesses and private house. Close to this you still have more classical buildings and the mix is gorgeous
In this area you can find most of the skyscrapers which are changing Milan's skyline.Very nice space for resting in the sun with nice weather in the center of the town
Located in the nice pedestrian area of Corso Como. It hosts several bars restaurants on two levels , bookshops supermarket and is also nice for its fountain.
The piazza is a wonderful coup-d'oeil with its ultra-modern architecture; don't miss a stroll around the area, nose-up to the future-glass-green- buildings like the "bosco verticle" in the surrounding area.
You can walk on the big suspended walkway which takes you to another side of the new area. Lot of young parents with children and other local visitors. Place is nice to take few photos.
There is lot of shops, cafe and some other amenities underground. Down to Corso Como you can find many exclusive shops and cafes and in less than 5 minutes reach Porta Garibaldi. Piazza Gae Aulenti
Piazza Gae Aulenti is a modern square but at the same time relaxing, architecturally interesting, fresh, lively and well equipped for shopping. There are nice bars, store, restaurants and a big pedestrian area that will enable you to enjoy its contemporary beauty from any point of view , Take your time to explore its inclination to surprise.
This is perhaps Milan's most attractive and most popular hub, giving the viewer a perfect idea of a 21st century. Metropolis, fusing beauty, space, greenery, water, shoping, meeting possibilities help the mankind.

Buona visita.

No, these are all private office buildings.
There’s a viewing platform at the top of Palazzo Lombardia on Via M Gioia. that’s about 15 mins walk from here. Do check the website before going, it’s not always open to the public.
