A beautiful church , dedicated to St Antony. Can see it from The Monumental cemetery of Milan - the bell tower which is 55m high and there is a statue of St Anthony with the Child Jesus in his arms. Outside the sanctuary there is a fountain depicting St Anthony preaching to a fish. Inside , there are the Chapels of San Francesco, the Chapel of the Crucifix, the Chapel of Santa Chiapas, the Chapel of the Immaculate.

A somber exterior + scaffoldings made my expectations really low when I was walking towards this church from the Monumental Cemetary, but how wrong I was!?! The ceiling is covered with stunning frescoes and the whole interior was breathtaking. It is definitely one of Milan’s most beautiful churches.

This is a beautiful silent church in dark tones and the figure of St. Anthony is everywhere, on top of the tower on the church, in front of the church in an absolutely beautiful gentle fountain and inside in the main altar spotlighted and on the sides also. He is a very inspiring figure when you read his story. So it is nice to see his gentle face all over. We found the church very enjoyable.
It is near the M2 Metro Station and directly opposite to the Monumental Cemetery and both can be combined in a single day and we did so.
What the net says about St. Anthony is that he lived and dressed like poor people. So when he preached to them, they listen. They learned more from his life than from his words. Otherwise the preachers of those days from the richer class and did not have much an impact on the poor.

Sant Antonio di Padova (S. Antonio Convent of Padua) was erected outside the city walls, to serve as "hospice" for the Franciscans of the Custody of the Holy Land, body also recognized by the newly formed Kingdom of Italy. A small oratory was opened on July 17, 1873 and May 2, 1875 the foundation stone was laid for a church dedicated to Mary Immaculate (the first church built in Milan under this title), and it was consecrated on 1 June of the following year. The bell tower. on the left side of the sanctuary rises, in the prominence of its 55 m high bell tower built in the years 1929-30, designed by Ugo Zanchetta and on which it was placed, 16 October 1930, the statue of St. Anthony holding up the Infant Jesus. The length of the visit is about 30 minutes.
