The pulsating core of Milan is in Centro. Duomo Square is enclosed by the gothic cathedral, the historic icon of Milan. However, shopping is what draws most crowds to this area. The classy and versatile Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II with luxury boutiques and high quality restaurants will turn any shopping or lunch expedition into a royal experience. Head to the rooftop of the flagship La Rinascente to enjoy the view of the animated square with a panorama of the Duomo. The Corso Vittorio Emanuele II is the street for high-end shopping. Brands of all kinds and street artists attract the attention of all visitors; while at Via Santa Radegonda 16, Luini Panzerotti is a much appreciated street food shop providing unimaginable culinary experiences. If shopping takes its toll on you, consider visiting Castello Sforzesco, a 15th century castle housing several museums. Those looking to relax can go to Parco Sempione, where nature provides respite from the energy of this dynamic and international city.

Beautiful large sculpture group started in 1878 by sculptor Ercole Rosa who died before to finish it so the monument was ended by Ettore Ferrari.
The materials used are the white marble, the bronze and red granite.
The white marble from Carrara was used for the steps around the red granite base.
The bronze was used for the bas-reliefs and the beautiful equestrian statue.

It is a big Monument on a central square of Milan (Piazza Duomo). It is dedicated to the first King of Italy (Vittorio Emanuele II). It was build in the 19th century an the style is like this (upspring nationalism). It is nothing special, when you are nearby (e.g. for visiting the cathedral), just take a foto and go on.

Impressive statue situated opposite the Duomo Cathedral in the Piazza, dedicated to the first King of Italy. Very crowded and busy at times so watch you bags.

If you stand just behind it you can get it in the photo with the Duomo.

This monument stands in tribute to Victor Emmanuel II, the first king of a reunified Italy.

The monument is an equestrian statue of the king and is monumental in size. The monument depicts the king leading the soldiers to the battle of San Martino, during the Second Italian War of Independence. The victory confirm Italian independence. The huge monument sits in the centre of Piazza del Duomo, ad along with the Duomo, dominates the square.

It is an impressive statue of a king on horseback and sitting lions in the middle of the beautiful "Piazza del Duomo", so it is a picturesque spot. There are a plenty of pigeons being fed by the visitors and children, but be aware of the beggars utilizing the pigeons' attraction.

If you are any form of equestrian this is a must. This horse is the most fabulous of any horse statue I’ve ever seen. The artist surely knows horses. Even the veins on the legs are correct. His head is so beautiful. Absolutely a stallion too. Wish I knew what he was named. In today’s market, guessing his cost would be around 200 or more thousand. And that would have been without training. He is a regal warrior. Respect for him and more.
