Five years ago we visited Treviso and were stunned by the beautiful well preserved historic walled city, with magnificent buildings, some of which went back to the 13th Century. Treviso is further spruced up by charming waterways, giving ot s feeling of being in Venice sometimes. But making Treviso a real 5 point plus destination was the modest amount of tourists, making Treviso really livable. Beautiful and charming Treviso was a well kept secret. But sadly, one day we saw Treviso promoted on the Internet as an alternative tourist attraction to Venice. Now, Treviso is on the radar of many tourists and it shows. It was far more busy as five years ago and the restaurant we went to for lunch full of anticipation, had been turned into a tourist trap, where tourists were bussed in for lunch. Fortunately, the neighbours were still the same as five years ago but there it is. But
Treviso is still beautiful Treviso with an easy five points rating.

Got to say, I was really astonished by the medieval city centre of Treviso. Those who only land here and make their way to Venice miss so much of the lovely character of this city. Make sure to see all the little side streets leading in and out of Canale dei Buranelli!

Unfortunately we only had one night in this wonderful city and wished it was longer. We had no expectations really but were blown away by its simplicity and beauty.
We had heard it was similar to a small Venice but less tourists and I suppose in a way it is. There are not nearly as many waterways but it does have canals through the city with the adds to its charm.
History is all around and the buildings are beautiful. Lots of narrow streets and plazas make it fantastic for getting lost in and finding a restaurant or bar.

It was our first time in Treviso and we were nicely surprised about this nice and quite city. It's absolutely beautiful, with its canals, old watermills, beautiful buildings including churches and the nice central Piazza del Signori. We walked all around the city, very tidy, clean, full of nice shops, good place for shopping, good restaurants, small markets. The pedestrian area is gorgeous. Very nice to enjoy a good coffee in the centre and keeping walking through the streets, full of surprises. Smaller and less busy and famous than the close city of Venice but incredibly beautiful. It definitely deserves a visit.

We thought to use this small town for one night just to take a nap and move to Venice in the morning, but the night walk through Treviso definitely changed my mind. Lot of cozy piazzas, tiny canals, cafés and bars. Also random walk through a city without a map will show you some interesting hidden landmarks, and of course take a walk along the fortress wall which surrounds the city.

This was a pleasant day trip for my girlfriend and I. We flew from Naples to Treviso and back for around 85 USD. We spent the morning and had lunch at le beccherie (highly recommend). Then had time to catch the train to Venice for an afternoon and evening aperitivo. The lovely thing about Treviso is the charm of the Old Italian city without the crazy crowds and tight streets of Venice. It definitely is not the same as Venice, but you do get some of the same feel with houses sporting docks right out the back door on to the river. There are great shops in the old buildings and it multiple beautiful churches with interesting history. I would definitely recommend a day or so here. If you have nicer weather than we did, you could probably enjoy the walking and biking paths as well!

When asking someone about Italian towns worth a visit, you get a long list, always featuring Rome, Firenze, Siena, Venice, followed by a list of lesser known towns with a historic center, but almost never Treviso is on the list. This is a pity, because Treviso is a jewel of a medieval city, with ancient buildings, interesting squares, impressive churches, cafes with outdoor seating areas, restaurants and as bonus a maze of waterways, where you can make long, impressive walks, not hindered by tourist groups. Apparently, the big tourist magnets close to Treviso, Venice, Padova and the Adriatic beach overshadow this pretty, unhurried town. Getting there by car is easy. A large parking area, with reasonable prices, is located at the Viale B. Burchiellati. The Piazza dei Signori, the center square of Treviso, is less then a 10 minutes walk away.

Winding streets, arched passageways, palazzos, churches, towers, rivers and canals, old town walls and moats, lots of upmarket shops, cafes and restaurants galore, few tourists, what more could one ask for? Northern Italy at its best.

Treviso is a place which is overlooked by tourists as the city doesn't get much publicity outside Italy. The city centre is compact but beautiful. Arriving by bus, train or dedicated airport bus, it only takes 5 minutes to get to Piazza dei Signori, which is regarded as the centre of the city. Here you can dine outside on a summer evening to savour the food, especially the pizza, at Da Pino. Wander down any side street or alley and you'll never be far from a picturesque scene involving water. The ducks and swans also love this city.

Laid back historical town with many beautiful buildings. Get a walking tour from the tourist office and discover its hidden treasures. There is water everywhere and greenery.

Dear Alejandro!!
Treviso is not such a big City! If you have only 2-3 hours of time it is no problem. You will see the most important buildings for sure! Go along the rivers of the City on you will see everything.
A tip for a small lunch: Hosteria dai naneti!! It is right in the center of treviso!!!
