Also a very good (and flat) jogging and cycling route if you enjoy that. Not that many restaurants for such a large area and the ones I went in struggled with English...but nothing Google Translate couldn't fix.Visited May 2023Traveled soloWritten May 6, 2023

All the courts with large net around its, make is it an eye sore. The water is nice. I guess not bad for a city beach, They would need to clean up to improve the experienceVisited May 2023Written June 4, 2023

I decided to stay at one of the clubs for my umbrella and lounge. The beach was convenient to my hotel.Visited August 2023Traveled soloWritten August 16, 2023

We visited Poetto on two separate occasions. It's easy to get to from Cagliari city centre on buses PQ and PF.
The part nearest the marina end was the most attractive for me with its rugged towering cliff face.
However we also visited the end closest to the nature reserve with the flamingos.
At this end there are lots of little food stalls selling hot fast food and drinks on the road near to the large children's play park so you don't have to pay the more expensive prices of the beach front cafes and bars.

The sand was warm - and the beach just went on for miles. Gets busy on the weekends - especially if weather is nice. There was a fair amount of sea grass washed up. Not too many shells - but also no garbage or glass!!

One of the more beautiful beaches I have ever been one. It's very big, so finding space is almost always guaranteed. You can also very easily access it with public transport. Do bring your own umbrella though, as this seems to be practiced by everyone.

Parking wasn't a problem but it was low season. Its a nice enough beach but to be honest, not as clean as we had already experienced further round the coast at Villasimius. There was a lot of floating sea debris making the water dark compared to clean clear crystal turquoise water where you can see all the fish at other East Coast beaches.
For anyone with a car, drive an hour out of Cagliari and have a much nicer beach/sea experience.

In our short stay in Sardinia, we visited this beach twice and it’s absolutely beautiful. The water is lovely to swim in and is clear as the day. There’s a great bicycle track that runs alongside the 8km beach which is also fab to do. There’s plenty of little bars and restaurants, and also public toilets. A great place to spend the day.

The beach is stunning although in October the water is rather chilly. With 8km there are plenty of spots to pick. If you are a solo traveller then take the bus or call a taxi. Lots of places to eat along the beach and plenty of water sports available.

Poetto beach is quite nice and has a few restaurants on the beach which are nice. Sadly you get harassed every few minutes by someone selling stuff. We walked from Cagliari centre to the beach which took about 1 hour. The route is mostly ok, but about 30 minutes into the walk is what appears to be an unfriendly area which some unfriendly looking people around and a message saying they don't want foreigners there. However after 10 minutes you're past this bit and it's ok again.

To get to Poetto take the PQ or PF bus from Via Roma. Purchase a full day B.I.G. ticket for 2 Euro 80.
You can get off the second stop, which will be just as the bus begins its trek up along the beach. Here, there is a free section immediately across the street. It is ok. Crowded and full of Africans selling sunglasses or blankets for 30 Euros. They are very, very pushy. It takes many No Grazi to get them to go away. Don't walk away from your belongings. If you go in the Med, take turns. Or, pay to use one of the beach cabana houses. Less crowded, better security.
Make a note of what time the bus returns. It only runs about once every 30 minutes or so.
If you wish to return by bus, do NOT try to do so from the same stop. The bus will be full before it reaches this stop and will pass it by. Take the bus further up the street and get off about 3 or 4 stops further and wait for one coming back. Be prepared to wait at least 15 to 30 minutes.
Then get on the one in this direction. You will be glad you did. It took us 1 hour and 15 to get back to Via Roma. At 4 pm before the beach started to empty. When we passed the original stop, it was mobbed and the bus simply went by since it was already totally full. And by this I mean absolutely, not one space left anywhere, full.
If you have more than 4 people or small children, consider a cab.
The beach itself is nothing much. Relatively dirty and the ocean is of very low quality in terms of surf. Floridians or Californians will be sorely disappointed.
Still, a nice afternoon after touring Cagliari.

Beach is the most famous among all in Cagliari region, but is wide and long. In terms of chairs and umbrellas hard to say. I didn’t use. Good luck!
