- Jill GWhitman, Massachusetts78 contributionsLovely Park with Panoramic ViewsA lovely park where you can enjoy gorgeous panoramic views of Taormina, the Mediterranean & Mt Etna. There are thoughtful areas for locals & tourists to walk, work out on outdoor gym equipment, play on the children’s playground, view the WWII memorial & beautiful gardens. Also an interesting old Asian looking structure. So glad we had a couple opportunities to walk through this splendid Villa Comunale.Visited April 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten May 1, 2023
- adyanks103 contributionsA nice quiet park with sea views!Make a stop while in Taormina just to take a break from the crowds. The paths are well thought out and gorgeous flowers are in bloom along with cactus and palm trees. The big Bird house structure is great for photos. You get great sea views from this park and a glimpse of the famous Taormina train station.Visited August 2022Written May 29, 2023
- Anne MBoston, Massachusetts5 contributionsLovely Respite From Summer HeatThis location was very pleasant. Plenty of shade provided a nice break from the intense sunshine and heat of mid-day in July. VIews of the beaches, sea, and buildings below were stupendous. The Asian buildings, statues, and plant variety in the were interesting to see. I thoroughly enjoyed strolling along the pathways here.Visited July 2023Traveled with friendsWritten July 17, 2023
- Nicole DHamilton, New Zealand3 contributionsWonderful, would returnLoved the huge variety of shops from handmade shoes to jewellery, and gelato. The amphitheater is incredible and we even enjoyed lunch at the Cafe on site overlooking the sea. We caught the train from Messina which goes every 30 min approx and then a 20 euro taxi to the town which is high up. it only takes 20 min to walk back down. Easy walking through and round the town. You can also take the gondol down to the beach if you don't want to walk.Visited September 2023Traveled with friendsWritten September 24, 2023
- Bryony C5 contributionsLovely tripThe Villa Comunale is a lovely little park nicely situated in Taormina. The views from the park are absolutely beautiful and you could easily spend time leisurely eating a gelato soaking up the views. The park itself is lovely and peaceful, and a welcome break from the crows of Taormina. A beautiful setting for our engagement and its now holds wonderful memories for us.Visited August 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten October 8, 2023

Excellent gardens, in the shade which was welcome on such a hot day. They are well designed and interesting with historical information boards. I would recommend these gardens to anyone looking for some
Peace and quiet away from the bustle of the Main Street or the heat of the beach. Lovely

This is the place to visit if you are hot and tired. The gardens are subtropical and free to entry with plenty of shade and benches. The foliage is unusual and well tended with large trees and bushes. You can amble around on paved paths with views of the extensive coastline. Supposedly you can enter from a track near the ancient theatre but we found it was padlocked. The gardens are also a short walk from the main shopping street.

We did this after the Greek theatre as they are not far apart and this is completely free. Wonderful planting, follies and stunning views. Plenty of seats if you want to take a picnic. Quite a few steps down to it initially but such a lovely experience. You can normally walk down from the theatre but the path was closed. Really worth a visit

I remembered this beautiful garden back in 2002 and dug out some old photos of the old garden towers before I went. It's even more wonderful than I recall, peaceful, nobody around, hot, loads of fantastic tropical plants and trees and amazing architecture. You could sit for a few hours and forget the world here. It closes at 9pm but you have to stand at the edge and take in the views.. it's fantastic.. and free.

This is a great way to spend 45 minutes to an hour. Beautiful flowers, sculptures, fountains, and buildings. Many of the buildings have an Asian look/feel.
There is one section that is a memorial to the victims of war.
Find a quite bench and enjoy the shade on a hot day.

They made a lot out of this not so big place. A lot of plants, flowers, but also a lot of decorative elements of all kinds. All paired with a wonderful view down the cliff to the sea. Some nice explanations as well, so certainly worth an hour and the small detour from the center of Taormina.

There is no entrance fee - i believe the gates are closed during the times when the park is closed.

Hi, how do I find these gardens? I can’t find any info anywhere. Is it within the ampitheatre? Any advice appreciated on how to find it as just one more day left in Taormina thanks

From the Corso Umberto take the alley going downhill to the Naumarche. Follow this street downhill (Via Fratelli Bandiera) this turns into via Bagnoli Croci. Continue downhill and it is on your right. There is an entrance at the lookout on Via Roma.
Alternatively look it up on google maps.
Enjoy.

I agree with all other posts. It your mum can manage the walk to the gardens and back then I am sure she will really enjoy these lovely gardens. Plenty of shade, plenty of seats. Really hope you get to see them
