A wonderful trip. We spent 4 days in the beautiful city of Maastricht. During our stay we attended the Andre Rieu concert in Vrijthof Square which was an amazing and enjoyable experience. I recommend this.
We took the American Schoolbus sightseeing trip round the city. This was excellent an very informative. There are so many lovely restaurants and superb shopping. We stayed in the fabulous Crowne Plaza Hotel right by the river.
A truly memorable trip.

This train is fun, solar powered and takes about an hour to go round the main city centre sights of Maastricht. The commentary is in English and Dutch. Catching the train is quite an art as there are no stops marked! It's goes from the corner of maarkt on the hour from 11am.

This is a slow moving, solar-powered 'train' - ideal for the cobbled, narrow streets of Maastricht. It tours within the medieval town walls - commentary is very informative and is a great introduction to this beautiful centre. We caught this train at the Vijof and stumbled on it by chance - fortunately.u

This train is ideal to go round Maastricht. It is a beautiful town which has a cobblestoned town centre . I had the chance to visit the saturday flea market which is right outside the train station. A coffee at the Douwe Egberts cafe just outside the station is highly recommended. The tour takes you to all the important landmarks in Maastricht . The driver was kind and courteous. Recommended.......

During our recent visit to Maastricht with our travelling friends, we decided to use the facility of the all electric sightseeing bus that takes visitors for a tour around the city.
Whilst we had explored a lot of the many roads/squares in and around the actual central square where the winter market was being held, we wanted to get a better understanding of what else the city had to offer.
The bus tour starts on the road adjacent to the River Maas, almost exactly opposite to where you can catch one of the river cruising boats(already reviewed) at a place called Kesselskade.
Tours start at this time of the year at 11.0am and run every hour on the hour, the last tour starting at 16.00.
The bus itself consists of two modern metal carriages which are all enclosed .The whole thing is pulled by a small tractor type vehicle which is powered by electricity taken from solar panels on the roofs of each carriage. Quite in genius.
The tour is very comprehensive and takes you in and around the city square and then further out. It gives you a good understanding of exactly how big Maastricht is!
There is a commentary given through loudspeakers. On our trip the driver approached us and explained that as the majority of other passengers were from Germany and Holland the audible commentary would be in those languages. However, we were each given a printout of the whole commentary in English so we were able to keep up with the tour as it progressed.
The cost of tickets was 6 Euros each which was considered excellent value.
A brilliant way to see the city.

We took the Maastricht city tour- which has 3 phases. The first is by old American yellow school buses which tour the town. The second phase is a river cruise on the Mass river and the third is the tour of the tunnels. A truly excellent way to see Maastricht!

Winds through the streets of Maasticht for a "thumbnail" overview of this terrific Dutch city. The seats are oddly placed, i think, so that no matter which side you are on something is always at your back. The seats face the center of the tram, rather that rows facing forward. Not the best situation for an old neck! Still, worthy of your consideration to see parts of the town. The price seems fair for the experience. Catch it at the dockside by the river tour boats.

Wow how fabulous this little trip was. €6.50 and worth every penny, its solar powered so very green to, the only criticism I have us that the English description is last so you've often passed before you get to hear about why you'd stopped. But other than that it was fab, I would definitely go on it again .

Hello Guide 46335653014,
The pick-up point is at the Kesselslkade. The Kesselskade is located on the promenade along the Maas, between the Mosae Forum and the Sint Servaas Bridge.
Wat zijn de kosten? En kun je onderweg uitstappen en weer opstappen?
A. R.

Beste Ellen,

Hi 311shi,We had taken "solar powered train" ,which takes you around the places mainly in city centre. It is not a "hop on hop off" We then did a few places we liked by walk. This is available after crossing the Maas river, and is almost 1 km walk from the railway station.
We did the caves by Public transport bus, from city centre, The bus starts from the railway station before coming to city centre.,It is advisable to buy "OVChipcard" for bus travel, which works for train travel as well & all over Netherlands.
While searching for Maastricht before our visit,I had seen on the internet a site called" stiphout",which talks of sightseeing buses &boat tours. Since you have aged people with you,you may like to examine this option.
