It was my first experience, and overall, a very good one. Yes indeed, it is noisey, especially on Saturday.. forget about deep relaxation, no chance! I had bought the VIP package for a friend and myself - it was all a bit confusing and not easy to figure out what to do next... the exfoliating and drainage massage were excellent, I swear she took layers and layers of skin off with that glove..... they can be heavy handed ... However, having to wait at least one hour, naked lying on a marble slab, before moving on to the relaxation massage... was no fun and very frustrating! The relaxation massage was worth waiting for, lovely scented oil... although here again, the noise level from ourside the massage cubicle made it impossible to totally chill! A word of warning, if you ever take the VIP package - it ends with the hairdressers - a wash and blow dry! DON'T.... you have been warned!

I have been several times and it can be really busy, which is fine if you have the time and don't mind the noise that a lot of people can produce, also, then there will not be much space to sit in the hammam area either. What is great about it is the skin scrub, I always love it even though they pull and stretch you if need be, they do scrub like the best and the separate showers are appreciated. The hairdryer works with coins and is not one of the best however, you can have your hair done at the hairdressers next door; one very annoying issue is that the open 'changing room' is in the area where people drink tea - I absolutely don't like that. Still, the hammam as such is a good one to go to in Brussels.

The Riad hammam, in the heart of Schaerbeek, is a great place to go and relax with friends and pamper yourself - or rather, get yourself pampered. A typical 'session' includes a scrub, a massage, and sauna, as well as plenty of time to sit around splashing water over yourself. It's clean, well-equipped, easily accessible by public transport, and you come out feeling completely refreshed, ready for a cup of warm mint tea that you can buy in the foyer. You can find details about its location, facilities, and opening hours (separate for men and women) on its website: http://www.leriad.be/.

I'm very surprised to read the great reviews on this place, I believe most likely those who never visited real authentic hammams and it's understandable. All I can say is Oh Dear God;
I went there today for the experience and since I live in Brussels, why not. One word DISGUSTING.

People do yourself a favor pay a few extra euros and visit the better places that brussels has to offer and save yourself the trouble from getting any kind of fungus or skin disease or whatever.

I entered this dodgy place and at the desk they were even sketchier. Paid my entrance and went to the locker, changed and went downstairs. I took a shower, the water was cold. I looked around and I said to myself let me get the hell outta here and fast. This place was just NASTY.

Got dressed went to the desk and the worker asked, if eveything was ok, I said i just entered and if it was, I wouldn't be out in 5 minutes. Well they charged me 20 eur for the shower and the use of their towel. Which is fine by me, perhpas they can buy disinfectant with it.

I did say to the owner or boss, this place is a SHAME to be called authentic hammam or any kind of hammam and I will write my review. His answer, it doesn't matter.

My next step is to send the safety and health inspectors a letter, because it's impossible such places exist in our society.
