Highly recommend this wonderful way to spend the afternoon- sampling unique offerings of the city with a knowledgeable and engaging guide. Well organized for couples, groups, families and singles. Whether it’s your first or last day in Lisbon, it’s not to be missed.

Fantastic selection of food, really friendly and knowledgable guide (Elouise) and a lovely way to see Alfama area. This is great value for money, and would highly recommend.
Great to see you guys supporting the local community after what had been such a tough time.
Money well spent.

My fiance and I try to do a food tour in any new city we visit and we felt like this was our favorite one by far. This tour was one of the highlights of our 7-day trip to Lisbon! Rita was our host and we could not say enough nice things about her. She had great energy, was incredibly knowledgeable and really made you love Lisbon even more. We tasted so many different foods and drinks, my fiance and I were incredibly stuffed by the end of the tour! She encouraged us to try foods that I normally would not eat, but I trusted her and she did not disappoint. Our favorite was the pastéis de nata -- we still crave that to this day. :)

I highly recommended taking this tour and would definitely do it again!

I don’t like to write bad reviews for any company but this one was absolutely justified. The entire booking experience with treasures of Lisboa Food Tour is an absolute frustrating nightmare. I arrived to Lisbon for a 3 day trip and decided to book a food tour. I used the TripAdvisor website to book the tour, on the website it showed availability so I immediately booked the tour. A few hours later I had yet to receive a confirmation, so I called the tour operator directly and they told me that my request was going to be rejected because they were full. She told me that the afternoon tour had plenty of availability. I had another tour booked for that afternoon that I went ahead and moved around in order to accommodate this food tour. I called Viator/TripAdvisor and they said that this company requires a 8 hour window to confirm tours, even though they show availability and payment is taken at time of booking. So 1 hour after talking to the tour operator over the phone and moving my other city tour around I went on to TripAdvisor to book the afternoon tour that had availability as told by the tour operator. I went to sleep with the impression that I would have a tour booked for the following day, but to my surprise again when I woke up my tour was rejected again by the operator due to it being sold out, a second time! After I spoke to them over the phone and being told there was plenty of availability. I received a message from the tour operator apologizing for the booking system and blaming TripAdvisor. But in TripAdvisor’s defense I have made many many bookings for different tours all over the world and I have never experienced such an issue. This company should really remove their offering until they are able to fully resolve their flawed booking system. To mandate a 8 hour window in order to receive a booking confirmation is absolutely ridiculous especially when someone is visiting a city for a short period time and wants to book a tour on a whim. I am beyond frustrated with this tour company. It’s always in your control to control the experience for your customers from booking to completion of the tour. Get it together. You caused me a lot of unnecessary aggravation on my vacation.

Treated to a great tour by Marianne who did an excellent job of shepherding our fairly large group through the Alfama district and keeping us well fed and hydrated!

A small group of us spent an afternoon being affected by Rita. She is certainly enthusiastic about EVERYTHING & high on ‘life’. Unfortunately this level of stimulation meant that she was unable to retain any information garnered about the group (& asked about where we were from 4 times).

Her flight of ideas/interest in the group also meant that every stop took a lot longer than it needed to while she grilled individuals with ‘tell me honestly what was your first impression of Portugal’. This information was not retained either & the questioning cycle was repeated, & repeated.

Rita was oblivious to the pouring rain & lacked the adaptability to stay inside for the 10 minute diatribe regarding the eating habits of her entire family. The final stop of the tour was a terrace with what would have been a great view - except that the gale had escalated & everyone clearly had had enough. This did not in anyway dampen Rita’s mania; she spent 5 minutes showing us her Instagram photos with instructions regarding ‘you must go here’.

The food was good, not great. The alcohol was sparse & average. The tour could easily have been 2 hours with a lot less pausing for ‘guess who is buried in the dome’ games. Definitely swerve.

“The guide was very enthusiastic which is great, because having a boring guide is the worst. Also she was genuinely interested in her guests and wasn’t ashamed to ask us to repeat our names instead of pretending she remembered them. This made the experience all the more personable. Rita interacted a lot with us, asking us about what we thought of Portugal for example, and she shared her personal stories, as well as the food habits of her Portuguese family, as she is native of Portugal. That’s exactly what you should expect from a Food Tour guide: getting immersed in the Portuguese culture thanks to her personal stories & fun facts. Even though it was raining on that day, Rita kept her smile & good mood until the very end, when she selflessly took some time to share some recommendations of the must-see in Lisbon to whoever wanted them, as we were all standing on an off-the-beaten-paths terrace with a great view. There was enough food & drinks to cover lunch & dinner, everything we ate was handmade, homemade, and/or unique.” Is probably what you meant, right? Smile and life smiles back at you, even under the rain ;-) Regards, Ruthy

Was really happy to meet Ruthy for this tour. She is happy and often laughing - she immoderately connected with my kids who are 9,13 and 16. My son is also a vegetarian and she arranged food for him at every stop that was delicious. We liked the restaurants and choices at every spot! I think we did have the best pastel de nata ever on this trip!

We really enjoyed our time with Franciso and Marianne today, who were very informative, friendly and warm. They made special effort to direct us back to the starting point for us to wait for our transfer back to the hotel. The meeting point was very easy to locate and we appreciated that the food stops were family run establishments for a local flavour.

The booking process with Ruthy was also very smooth and she made special effort to respond to my e-mail when her confirmation was sent to my spam folder.

My boyfriend and I just had one of the best tours we’ve taken to date! Our tour guide, Rita, was adorable and friendly and the food we had was delicious! We had so much fun! It was really nice walking through the historic Alfama district and hearing about its history from a true local’s perspective. Given all the hills we had to walk and climb, we definitely earned all the calories we just consumed getting from place to place, haha. I definitely recommend this tour to anyone who wants to immerse into culture, loves a bit of history, being active, and of course, good food!
