The service was so slow in this restaurant. We ordered bread and olives which did not arrive and yet we were charged for them. I then ordered Chicken Peri Peri. This turned out to be a bowl of bones with some chilli sprinkled on them. It was inedible. Finally, I visited the toilets. They were disgusting and didn't look like they had been cleaned in weeks. Goodness knows how clean the kitchen was. On a positive note, the views were amazing.

In short, avoid this place.

As you walk up the stairs there is an incredibly offensive and racist statue of a black woman. This should be removed as nobody should have to look at this. Real shame as the rest of the restaurant is beautifully decorated, the food is delicious and the staff friendly.

Recommended this restaurant by a local so we went to book a table for Friday night. We were told that they were "fully booked".
We decided to take a chance and at 9.00pm we walked into the restaurant which was half empty! Plenty of tables. Staff were disinterested. Sat us in a corner of the restaurant. The food we ordered was not cooked properly and one dish had to be sent back. No apology, we were an inconvenience. The Samba evening that we were advised would be taking place didn't happen. Dreadful food, service and staff. Would not recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Lisbon. Plenty of other wonderful places to eat.

Waited for a bit for a table in the non-smoking section. After being handed menus, we waited a good 15 minutes for a waiter to appear. Service was non-existent. I ordered the cod - and it was awful. Dry, rubbery, and room temperature. The woman seated next to us waited 20 minutes for a waiter so we gave her some water. Worst "seafood" I have had anywhere. VERY disappointed in this place. So much wasted potential. Skip it. I would give it one star but I am feeling generous.

We went to Chapito twice, both nights we were in Lisbon... on our first night, on the recommendation of the desk clerk at our hotel, mainly because it was a short walk and we were tired from our travels. The restaurant is part of a complex that is also an arts school of some sort and they sell crafts at the entrance. The experiennce overall was good enough though overpriced for the area, with a limited menu that doesn't realy reflect regional cuisine. However, the food was nicely prepared, at the right temperature, and the waiter was very friendly and efficient. So...we went back the second night and it was a big mistake. We got there right at opening, so they weren't real busy. We had a different waiter who seemed distracted and overwhelmed by the few tables he had. Our mojitos came out right away, and my wife's grilled fish was fine. I had ordered the "black pork" and it came out luke warm, but our wine didn't show up before or with the entrees. I sent back my dish and they apparently stuck it under a broiler and brought it back out because now the pork was crispy (it shouldn't be) and the grease was floating... Finally our wine arrived. To make up for things the manager offerred us a glas of porto, but the damage was done. Our next visit we won't go back.

The poorest quality meal we had during our stay in Portugal and the only time the food did not taste fresh. Meat and Cod Croquettes and the prawn and avocado toast tasted as if they had come out of a freezer, The only time this had happened in Portugal. Barbecued Chorizo was very fatty and left an unpleasant after taste which needed a double espresso to dislodge. The concept was good and the waitresses were ok. The Chef needs to take lessons from the many excellent chefs in Portugal where we enjoyed meals.

I was in Lisboa September of 2005. I loved Lisboa and Chapito was definitely one of the highlights. Great food, great entertainment, great view. As we were eating dinner on the patio, the music began and a magician popped out of an inconspicuous shed. It was a wonderful act. There were all ages of people and there was a great vibe. You will definitely want to add this to your itinerary.

although I had booked for the restaurant giving on to the marvellous view of Lisboa I was told as I arrived with 5 other people that they had no reservation in my name could not be true as I insisted for this reservation (been at the Chapito three years previously, loved it and wanted to share this very good experience with friends who were visiting Lisboa so we were put in the little place downstairs which has nothing to do with the top restaurant
the food was ok but nothing to write about service pleasant but not impressed by the guy at reception could not be sure but our table was probably given to somebody else or the girl who took my telephone call decided otherwise
will probably never go there again Pity

When we went here for drinks, we had to wait like 10 minutes before they helped us. We had to take a seat at a table for 4 whithout a view but because we were only having drinks and not lunch, we asked toch sit at a table of 2 with a nice view. It was ok for one of the waiters so we moved. After this move and our order they came to ask us to move again because they only serve food at these tables. We moved again. After 5 min. the manager who asked us to move let 4 other people sit here for only drinks!! Most staff was really unfriendly.. Not recommending this place..
