I came across Lisbon City Runners (LCR) when I was looking up running routes. As most runners know, one can be nervous when visiting a new place and not knowing where to run. So when I saw the Lisbon City Runners site it was one of those eureka moments!

I had five runs with the LCR and each of these runs was brilliant (July 2015). My guide for the first four runs was Nuno who was fantastic - friendly, informative, encouraging and both sensitive and understanding about the concerns that I had about the runs, especially as I was returning from injury. My maximum distances before my visit were limited to 3 km due to that injury, but by my final session with Nuno I was back to running 10 km very comfortably. On my final run, I joined Nuno, Pedro and Clara for a track session, which was absolutely brilliant and lots of fun!

The concept of LCR is simple, yet brilliant. Importantly, it works because those behind it (Nuno, Pedro and Clara) are such nice, hospitable, enthusiastic people who are passionate about Lisbon, running and meeting new people. I got to see lots of Lisbon and was able to show friends around later in the day after each run. Nuno also pointed out places to eat and visit which I would have overlooked if I hadn't been on the run.

I can't recommend these runs more highly enough – any visit to Lisbon would not be complete without meeting the LCR team!!

NUNO is number one in my book. He was flexible on start time and agreed to run at my pace. The streets are hilly ... challenging but do-able. It was beautiful to see the sunrise over the river and learn about all the history of this incredible city of Lisbon.

He offered water and happily gave breaks for photos. This was a highlight of my trip. Also, I booked this at the last minute (clicked book at 23:00 on a Satuday night and Pedro the owner got right back to me and said ok for a 6:45 start time on Sunday morning.) AMAZING!

I booked a run through go running tours for a city tour of Lisbon (10k). Nuno was the running guide. It was a fantastic run through all different parts of the city. We ran at my pace and Nuno provided great commentary along the way. A great way to see the city before all the crowds I can throughly recommend Lisbon City Runners

I stumbled onto the LCR website while trying to map some running routes for my upcoming business trip to Lisbon. I thought that it was such a good idea having a personal guide in a foreign city while getting a training run in. After reading a few reviews I didn't hesitate to make a booking and was certainly not disappointed. I was met by Pedro just before 7:30 at my hotel as agreed. Pedro was a fantastic running companion - knowledgeable and proud of the city he grew up and lives in. (He also happens to drive a very cool 1985 black Citroën convertible.) We did the City Tour at a comfortable gentle pace stopping now and then while he pointed out places and sights of interest. Most of the run was flat and easy with a couple of short steep hills just to get the heart rate up and a bit of a sweat on. The climbs turned out to be well worth the effort with great views of the city and river. We ran for about an hour or so and covered about 10km. I would highly recommend LCR to anyone wanting to do some running while visiting Lisbon. My only regret is that I didn't have time to get another run in with LCR before leaving.

Obrigado Pedro.

If you love to run - or if you want to make room for more pasteles de nata - I highly recommend this tour. I'm a lazy runner and by no means a morning person, but it was truly exhilarating running through this beautiful city in the early morning, just as it is stirring to life, navigating its hills while learning about Lisbon from a proud and knowledgeable insider. Pedro was my guide and despite his extensive marathon experience, he patiently slowed down to my pace. Mind you, it's not all running all the time, as there are photo and talk breaks. I took the City Center tour, a 10K run, which involved some manageable hills and lots of fascinating backstory on street art, history and local culture. The whole thing took about an hour, leaving the rest of the day to apply your freshly earned perspective in exploring the city further - having got a great workout in the bargain. If such running tours exist in other cities, I'll surely try them - but if you're in Lisbon, don't miss this unique experience of this fabulous city!!

This was a wonderful running tour. I am sitting in my hotel room half an hour after getting back from this run. Nuno was very well educated on the history of Lisbon – not just his prepared remarks but also with any random questions I asked him. He was more than happy to adjust the piece of the run to suit my comfort level. I would recommend doing this on the first morning of a stay in Lisbon as it gives you a good history of the city and helps you get your bearings. I highly recommend this to her.

This is quite simply one of the best things I have done when travelling!

I had a solo run with Pedro early on Friday morning, covering about 7 miles. Pedro was great company - knowledgable about Lisbon's history and it's attractions, and kept it light and fun. We stopped for a few photo opportunities, and by the end of the run I had in mind a few places to visit during my stay (especially the Fado bars in Alfama, the Brasilia coffee shop and "the best custard tarts" at the Time Out market.

A great way to get the sightseeing done, get familiar with the city and get a decent run in, all before breakfast!

Obrigado, Pedro!

This was a great run tour with Pedro V. Sunday morning run, with fewer pedestrians made for a great time to do some sight running. Pedro is an awesome guide, he also ran at my slow pace, was knowledgeable of Lisbon history, and it's neighborhoods and sites. We stopped at a few view points to take in the vistas of beautiful Lisbon! Great way to orient yourself to the city and of course, get in your exercise or training run for the weekend. The hills are certainly a challenge but if you need to walk up a few, Pedro will of course adjust to your ability. So grateful to Pedro for all the running tips and suggestions, I'll be making adjustments for me next half marathon (mind you, I've run over 60 so far and still learned a few things from this awesome run coach).
Runners, don't miss out on this great tour!

Exceptional experience.
I have recently returned for a weekend trip in Lisbon. I happened upon this tour company while doing my research for this trip from start to finish it was very well organised. Carlos was my tour guide he was extremely knowledgeable and Readily and answered my questions. I would highly recommend this tour to any reasonable fit person who would like to experience Lisbon from a unique perspective. Highly recommended.

So glad that I ran with Pedro last week. Seeing the city before the tourists are out on the streets was ideal, and there is nothing better than being able to spend time with a local who shares your interests.
