A really beautiful, modern basilica in the centre of Montecatini-Terme. Great architecture, modern stained glass and beautifully designed and executed fittings. This quiet and contemplative space in the midst of this bustling town was an unexpected pleasure.

We were in Montecatini on a weekend and wanted to go to Mass. This beautiful church with its tall bell tower was convenient to our hotel, and we went to Saturday evening Mass. It was all in Italian (or Latin), and we don't speak the language, but we know the order of Mass, and it was quite a beautiful experience. You don't need to know the words in Italian to feel the sacred experience.

Basilica Santa Maria Assunta is located in the heart of Montecatini Terme and almost looks a little out of place because of its design. It has some interesting and modern features, such as the accordion like design and multiple little crosses over the relatively small entrance doors. The artwork inside is also modern with the main painting having more vibrant colours and a relatively simple scene. After exploring some of the older duomos in the Tuscany area, this basilica and its bell tower stood out as being quite unique in shape, materials and design. I would not go out of my way to see it, but if you are strolling around the town and piazza, it is worth a look.

Kind of a strange church for Italy. As a matter of fact it really doesn't fit in and I don't really get it

A modern basilica in the heart of Montecatini Terme. Some nice stained glass features. An usual basilica after visiting so many traditional Romanesque or Gothic churches & cathedrals.

Our high school choirs sand here last week and the acoustics were great. Although contemporary in style the church was welcoming and comfortable. The event was wonderful and a great finish to our week. Loved this little town!

Nice place to come to rest. Cool inside. Very modern church. Some evenings, there are small markets in the square opposite the church.

I would never imagine coming to an historic place such as Montecatini and finding a modern church at its heart. Very atmospheric with lovely coloured glass.
