Montecatini is an Absolutely fabulous place to visit, I cannot recommend this enough. Beautiful surroundings, fabulous restaurants, very reasonably priced in stunning surroundings. A visit to Montecatini Alto is also a must

The entrance to the Thermal park looks stunning and sets expectations high. All seemed eerily quiet but we paid our €6 each in the hope of enjoying the towns famous spas and gardens.
I must have missed the memo that nobody goes here any more. Whilst there was some nice architecture (late 18th century) and a pleasant fountain. That was it. There is a beautiful café which was occupied by one man having a coffee. I fancied a beer but feared lead poisoning as I doubt those taps have run for a few years.
I have no idea if the spa area/ pool thingy was open, it looked like it had been refurbished in 1960 and the same cleaner working there ever since. She seemed pretty chilled out as there was obviously nothing to clean as nobody goes there.
A quick stroll round the park to the other Therme’s confirmed this place just isn’t really open any more.
What could be beautiful buildings are just locked up and falling to pieces. It’s the 26th June at about midday, so not out of season or siesta time yet.
It’s all very weird.
Saw some pigeons and a woodpecker in the park. That was the highlight I’m afraid.
On a positive note, I’ve nearly finished my time travel machine so I’m looking forwards to popping back in 1810.

This is a lovely place to visit. It has such a tranquil atmosphere and its nice just to sit and enjoy the peace and quiet.
The entrance fee is priced right but I wouldn't want to pay much more that 6 euros. There seemed to be quite a lot of people speaking strongly with the lady at the entrance gate who then appeared to gain access without making any payment. She did a lot of sighing and eye rolling so this was obviously not a one off. Perhaps it's free for locals?
We had a quick look at the shops but not much there to see and in fact was a bit tacky and not in keeping with the surroundings.
We tried the spa water and it is an unusual taste - I'm sure the health benefits are grand but certainly wouldn't buy if bottled. A nice experience though.
The garden area surrounding the building is beautiful and we loved the section where the day, month and year was spelled out in plants - ingenious.
There is a large bar/restaurant area but not a sole was in there. There was no live music during our visit.
Parking is great with just a little walk up to the entrance where there is a really unique water feature.

Nice enough looking building and very impressive architecture but save for the pool and fountain there wasn’t much else to see. Gardens surrounding are nice. Didn’t see one thermal pool. People gping around side gate get in free.

12 euro a bit steep for experience

On an unexpectedly sunny evening early in the season decided to take a drive to this place. For years heard of it and tried the wafers from Fortnum and Mason. Glad we did. The complex is enjoying a revival and despite the past neglect work is well under way to bring the complex of spa's and drinking fountains, pavilions and so on back into use. We struck gold in that we arrived during a major launch event that was free and so had an idea how it will look when fully restored. The historic architecture is palatial and the original 1920's bar atmospheric and hard not to Charleston with the other Italians caught up by the jazz band. Well worth a visit.

I had walked pass this a few times while walking up and down to the town but eventually decided to pay a visit, and was I glad I did. The architecture is amazing, you just walk round looking at it all with your mouth open! Beautiful grounds, old-world tea rooms with lovely pastries to choose from and then sit outside taking in the whole scene. Spent about 2 hours between my coffee time and walking around, and would definitely do it again.

Greatness , at the water drinking palace Tettuccio, entrance fee 6 euro , somebody say its expensive, for me not, comparred to museum prices in my home country.
At the entrance we tried to buy/get a cup for drinking the healing water, the lady at the counter said that we need to show a doctor description to get a cup !! Seriously !!!
Once you are inside you will experience a lot of people who bring their own cups, the water runs freely from some taps. So bring your own cup if you wanna taste the healing water, by the way it tasted disgusting, the sulfiric acids and the salt and this ground/old taste, but if you belive in healing wells give it a go.
The park where Tettuccio is placed in are depressing due to the grand buildings in decay, it gives me a feeling of the world is near its end, by the way Montecatini are full of empty grand buildings and empty shops, but still a nice city to visit. But its alarming to me, but that the symptoms of internet business and globalism, its like that in many cities, including my hometown, a city center where people before would die to get a ship now displays closed shops now and then.

Walk along the Via Giuseppe Verdi stopping for a gelato at the famous Bargilli - try the 'cialde' (wafers) or the Brigidini (thin aniseed flavoured biscuits originally made by mistake by the St Brigid nuns! The road is dotted with brass plaques recording the visits of the great and the good - Verdi, Puccini, Hepburn, de Niro, Chanel. See who you can spot! The Tettuccio is not to be missed, with its columns, statues and fountains, fabulous ceilings and opportunities to test the spa waters that brought celebrities and royalty to Montecatini. A walk through the park beneath the upside down umbrella trees and a beer in the restaurant with its fabulous painted ceilings completes your day. Just fabulous.
