Easy walking paths taking in the views
2021. máj.
We had a day out to Painshill park and was so delighted in the beautiful grounds.
Loved the reflections on the lake, the facade of ruins, the folly and over the bridge to the island of rockery icicles. Easy walking paths for all ages taking in the views.
Cafe very good considering the COVID period and an excellent gift shop.

A real find!
2021. ápr. • Családi
A real find. Such a nice place with so much space and beautiful surroundings. We met up with family and it was perfect as so much to see and do for all ages. The landscape gardens are sublime and we cannot wait to return at a different time of the year to see it is a different light. Nice coffee too. Highly recommended!

Great Day Out
2021. márc. • Romantikus
Had a lovely day at Painshill Park. I was a bit concerned about the covid situation but they had excellent measures in place including a one way system at the entrance, hand sanitizer available and all staff wearing masks. The walk around the lake was beautiful and my son was very interested in the vineyard. So much open space to explore and great views. Staff and volunteers were all very welcoming and friendly. Their cafe is obviously closed at the moment but we were still able to get hot drinks to walk with. A lovely day out.

Overpriced
2020. nov. • Baráti
For the price you pay I don’t think it’s worth it - it’s a very nice estate with plenty of room to run around and walk in nature however there are many free places to do this in Surrey so I wouldn’t pay the price

Thank you for your feedback about your recent visit to Painshill. We are sorry you feel our entrance fee is overpriced. We are an independent charity and the money we receive from tickets does go directly into the Trust and the preservation of our historic landscape. Your contribution helps us carry out the vital maintenance work of our 158-acre site. Thank you for visiting and we hope you will return to Painshill in the future. Good visit
2021. febr.
A good visit yesterday, plenty of room for everyone and it was pretty busy. The newer area with the Pavilion etc. is stunning with great views. Some sections of grass are fenced off to (sensibly) allow the grass to recover. One negative - the catering is very limited which is fair enough in the circumstances but really - £2 for the smallest cup of coffee ever, and not even properly hot, that is not acceptable. On a minor note the access road badly needs resurfacing.

Thank you for taking the time to pass on your comments and I’m pleased you enjoyed your visit to Painshill Park. I’m sorry you feel the price for our takeaway coffee is too high. It is in line with our normal pricing however I will pass on your feedback to our Food and Beverage Manager. We appreciate our service is currently limited but shortly we hope to gradually increase this, when it is safe to do so. We do understand the driveway needs attention but unfortunately this is a council road. The Painshill Landscape Team do monitor and repair it as often as they can. They are this week making improvements in our carpark, and they hope to look at the driveway soon too. Thank you again and we hope to see you back at Painshill soon. Best wishes, Visitor Experience Manager

Disappointing
2021. febr.
I love Painshil and visit regularly as I live nearby. However, todays' otherwise delightful visit was marred by the behaviour of a member of staff in the coffee shop. Orders are having to be made via a kiosk arrangement. Members of the public queue outside and are outside when they order. The staff inside the coffee shop are also behind a perspex screen. Face Coverings are not mandated out of doors and so I did not see the need to discuss them at all. As I approached the kiosk, the member of staff barked something about wearing a mask. I pointed out that we were outdoors and she responded that the wind was blowing into the coffee bar! I then produced my hidden disabilities exemption card and proceeded with the order. If this member of staff is that frightened, she should arguably not be in a front-facing role. Face coverings are not mandated outside.

Thank you for taking the time to pass on your feedback, and we’re sorry to hear you were disappointed by your experience yesterday at Painshill. I will share your concern about the staff member you encountered to our Food and Beverage Manager. We do at Painshill ask our visitors to wear face masks when outside the tea room kiosk, and this is following the advice we sought from the Health and Safety Executive for Hospitality. Asking both visitors and staff to wear face masks gives the greatest chance of reducing the risk of the virus spreading, and it helps ensure both visitors and our staff feel safe. We do have signage in place advising visitors of this measure before reaching the kiosk, but I will review how we can make this clearer for our visitors. I hope this clarifies our reason for this measure and we look forward to welcoming you back at Painshill soon. With best wishes, Visitor Experience Manager

Ok for a walk, expensive, don’t get the hype
2021. febr. • Romantikus
Visited here because of all the great reviews but felt a little disappointed. There were roped barriers along all the paths, implying to only stick to the path and lots of ‘keep off the grass’ signs as we wondered round. Seemed a shame to have such a lovely open space that we couldn’t fully explore. In some places the paths are quite narrow - not great having to squeeze past large groups & we felt naughty stepping over the ropes. Many of the monuments were run down (including dirty cardboard statues outside the temple!). Lots of noise from A3. Great big electricity pylon outside of the tower so tricky to get nice pics. Dogs had to be on a short lead all the way around, which again felt a little unnecessary considering all the lovely open space and fields. We knew grotto and tower were shut before we went - maybe this is the big attraction we were missing?Didn’t take us very long to get around (just under 1 hour) and left thinking why did we bother paying when there’s so many other lovely local free parks nearby. Maybe we’ll try again in the summer and when everything is back open.

Thank you for getting in touch and taking the time to write your feedback, and we’re sorry to hear you feel disappointed from your recent visit to Painshill. Please let me take this opportunity to address some of your concerns. The money we receive from your entrance fee goes directly into the Trust and the preservation of our historic landscape. Your contributions, as with all our visitors, help us carry out the vital maintenance work of our 158-acre site, including our monuments that you mentioned. Our Landscape Team are continually working to improve the appearance of the site and I will pass on your feedback to them. Some select areas of the landscape by the pathways may be roped off to allow the grass to recover following particularly high footfall over the last nine months. Once the grass seed has settled, these ropes will be removed, providing more space for visitors to pass. We do have roped barriers along small sections of our paths, and this is necessary for health and safety reasons and to protect certain areas of the historic landscape. We do however have lots of open spaces for you to explore such as the Elysian Plains, the Alpine Valley and the Vineyard and Amphitheatre. Although we welcome dogs into Painshill, we do ask that they are to be kept on short leads. We want Painshill to be accessible to everyone, and some of our visitors such as young children can be frightened of dogs, especially when off lead. We also have a high number of retired greyhounds that are walked within the grounds, who can be easily intimidated by other dogs. We completely understand our visitors frustration with the Crystal Grotto and Tower being closed, and we agree that they are great attractions within Painshill. As soon as the regulations allow us to open them safely and responsibly, we will, and we very much hope you will consider visiting again so you can experience them. If you speak with our Visitor Services Team on arrival, they’d be happy to give you more information on our different routes you can take and where to find open spaces to explore. Thank you again for your taking the time to review and we hope to see you at Painshill in the future. With best wishes, Visitor Experience Manager
