Neighborhood: Silom
Despite the lack of any major tourist attractions, this lively neighborhood is a favorite of many. Whether it's the (somewhat naughty) nightlife of Soi Patpong, the various handicraft night markets or the plethora of dining options that tickle your fancy, a night out in Silom is a must on every itinerary. It's worth a stop during daytime, too: join office workers on a quest to tasty street food during lunch and shop at Silom Complex for a great mix of Thai and international stores. After a day of strolling around the congested sidewalks, a visit to Silom's Lumphini Park, Bangkok's answer to NYC's Central Park, is a welcome change of scenery.

- karamelcoffeeSingapore, Singapore71 contributionsGreat place for children and families away from BKK's madnessReally nice place to go in the middle of busy bangkok, great for kids and families. We went on the swan boats twice (it was free) and our 4 year old had a fantastic time. Bring food and snacks for an extended picnic, lots of space to camp. Can get a little warm in the tropics.Visited March 2023Written March 19, 2023
- Ed DSwansea, United Kingdom552 contributionsSuperb relaxing green space in a busy cityThe largest park in Bangkok and a welcome relief from the bustle and noise of this huge city. Classed as the Central Park of Bangkok it has lakes with boats for hire, food outlets, monitor lizards, cats and lots of green space for picnics or just a relaxing stroll. Beware it can get very hot. Van be accessed from Sala Daeng BTS station or via the skywalk from Benjakitti park (see other review). Well worth a visit if only to chill out.Visited February 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten March 19, 2023

Attractions for children were also taken care of. This makes a visit there ideal for: tourists, couples and families. The lake and a lot of flora and fauna make this place an oasis of peace in the very center of the capital of Thailand. Facilities such as: space for activities for people with disabilities and special car parks have also been prepared. There is also a statue of King Rama VI built in 1942 to commemorate the creation of the park. I had the opportunity to visit Lumphini Park several times and I remember my visits there with pleasure.Visited October 2022Written April 6, 2023

- OliverBangkok, Thailand4 contributionsThe best public park in busy city, BangkokLumpini park is located in the center of the city. Anyone getting a chance to explore the city will often stop to rest at this peaceful park. I see some people visit for different purposes like partying, exercising, or even dating. For me, I usually go for a jog after school. The fresh air together with a serene blue sky always keeps me relaxing. Every time, I get stressed from work, I come and sit by the pond to appreciate the beautiful city view for some time. That really helps me a lot. That's why I will recommend Lumpini Park. It is a must to visit once in a life time when traveling to BKK.Visited September 2023Traveled soloWritten October 3, 2023

My one criticism is a certain section has a number of cats and some look in dire need of vet care. Made me quite sad that no one cares enough that lives there to take them or get them spayed/neutered.Visited November 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten November 12, 2023

I enjoyed the much needed green space and clean air. I have visited before, but this was the first time I saw the infamous lizards, which was cool, they were chilling next to the glass house.Visited November 2023Traveled soloWritten November 27, 2023

Calm and peaceful but not much to do...seemed more in use by locals e.g. for jogging and getting a break from the bustle of the city. Would only recommend if you have a longer stay in Bangkok more than a few days.Visited November 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten December 3, 2023

We made the most of our afternoon at the park, but it’s not why you would describe as a pretty park. There is not much flora, but cool lake in the center. You can hire a pedal boat for 30 mins or more, very inexpensive and this gave us a few giggles. Feeding the fish was very entertaining from the pedlow!
There are a couple of vendors last where you can buy fish food from and you can either feed the fish from the side of lake or from you pedlow!
There are a couple little shops vendors/carts selling drinks and snacks.

Lumphini Park sits in the middle of the bustling city of Bangkok and I think that's just about right to go there and rest for a while from the city. It is a huge park with lakes and swan boats, not to mention some big lizards... iguanas? I really enjoyed the visit, especially because there are many birds flying across the lakes, back and forth, and it's just calming to watch them. There's a library in the middle of the park too but I didn't go there. Overall, I fell in love with this park and I'd definitely visit more than twice a week if I lived closer to it.

I had visited the Lumpini Park during my trip to Bangkok when I was staying at Novotel Bangkok Silom Road hotel and this park was located at a close distance. There is no entrance fee. The park is spread over a big area with a central lake and jogging tracks and seats to sit & relax. I saw many monitor lizards on the banks of the lake - some of them eating fishes caught from the lake. There is a library, tennis court, food stalls and more.

We were at a loss when arrived in Bangkok as we had been to some beautiful places around Thailand. Couldn't stand the noise act so went for a walk and stumbles across this park. The monitor lizards were just casually walking along beside us . There are boats you can hire to go around the lake get up close to the turtles. From here about 10 mins walk is the snake farm also great day.

Lumpini is situated in a very busy built up area full of hotels and busy roads. Lumpini just gives a calm feel with lots of mature trees and plants, along with many birds and squirrels. Take time out for a visit if you are nearby.

I expect nothing less than a place where you can unwind and escape the bustling city of Bangkok.. And guess what? This park is IN Bangkok.
It's a huge area where there is a man-made lake with several jogging trails surrounded by lush vegetation. And, there is nothing more relaxing than to hear the natural breeze and birds chirping as you walk or jog through the entire place.
When I went there in January 2022, Lumpini Park is open from 5am to 9pm. Upon entering, they have temperature check and sanitizer.

Lumphini Park has been a priority on my itinerary since the early stages of planning. City parks always hold a special appeal for me. Located in the heart of Bangkok, Lumphini Park is a serene oasis that offers a welcome escape from a bustling city like Bangkok.
The park is impeccably maintained, boasting abundant greenery, a lake, and a range of recreational facilities. It's a delightful sight to witness both locals and tourists engaging in leisurely strolls or invigorating jogs against this natural backdrop.
One charming aspect that caught my attention was the presence of numerous cats—wandering, yearning, and peacefully napping at nearly every corner of the park. Their presence adds a unique and endearing touch to the overall atmosphere.
While Lumphini Park may not rival the vastness of Central Park, its decent size ensures that you can always discover a quiet spot to unwind and escape the city's hustle. The park's dimensions strike a balance, offering a peaceful retreat without being overwhelming.

Lumphini park remains one of the only peaceful parks I’ve found in the Bangkok area. Easy to access from MRT or BTS. Great place for a jog or a stroll, or to bring a picnic lunch. You can even rent pedal boats. I visited at midday on a Saturday, and there were many people there enjoying the park, although it didn’t seem overcrowded. Saw at least 3 tai chi groups practicing, which added to the peaceful vibe. There are many large monitor lizards walking around and swimming in the lake. Bathrooms were clean enough, by park standards. A nice getaway from the buzz of the big city.

Lumphini Park is a huge Green Space in the middle of a busy locality, surrounded by corporate offices and big hotels. One entrance is right opposite to the Lumphini MRT station, and another one is opposite to the Si Lom MRT station. The park has a wonderful walking/jogging space with some canals filled with water across the park, giving it a refreshing feel. The park has around 6-8 different entrances, from various streets, and one can easily get lost in the huge but refreshing surrounding :) On a holiday, if you are residing close to the park, it would surely be a walk/jog worth every day.

A beautiful park in the City or business district of Bangkok. I ha d a appointment at Sathon City Tower at eleven, and sll we could spent 2 heurs and a half in the park, rest in front of the lake and eat our breakfast, go to the fitness where we could exercice and talk with nice Thai sportsmen who gave some hints and started chatted with us. A lot of people preactice spors between 7 and 9 h and we could observe Tashi exercices preacticed collectively with good music and go to the palyground where Hermione my daughter could try all games, quite safe.

Hi everyone, my mum loves thai chi so I thought maybe we can join a group at Lumpini Park early in the morning (our hotel is not far from it).
Could anyone please inform me which hour is the best time in the morning.
Thanks in advance and have a great day.

Although I am not familiar with any of the tai chi groups that practice in Lumpini, I have seen them practicing. Common sense tells me that they would be practicing during the early morning hours, but one Saturday recently I saw several groups practicing at around 11:00 AM

How much is the entry rate to the park?

Entry to park is free but you have to pay for activities, like pedal boats. I think even parking is free on weekends / holidays.

Hi, I’ll be visiting the chatachuk market this weekend and I’ve heard of live animals being kept in horrific conditions. I’m extremely sensitive to animal cruelty. Can anyone tell me of a cheap market in Bangkok where no animals are sold?”

Many years ago there were dogs in cages for sale however on my last trip to the market in July 2019 there weren't any to be found. It does take stamina to spend a day at the market !

I’m in BKK currently and checked the website for Bangkok Symphony, It does not report a concert at the park for 16 December 2018. The most recent concert listed was yesterday, 15 December 2018, at the Thailand Cultural Center.
The last appearance by the symhony at Concert In The Park series was listed as March 4, 2018.
