Last day in Yangon we went to this pagoda, quite a drive from downtown even though less than 10km.
I really like this place. Very peaceful, few people, an amazing one piece marble statue, unfortunately behind glass. We enjoyed the calm and quiet, very different from Shwedagon

Kyauktawgyi is an immense giant buddha statue carved from one single piece of marble found outside Mandalay in 1999. It was then painstakingly transported to Yangon by boat and train and now put and encased in the glass.

Nearby should couple this visit with Hsin Hpyu Daw where two white elephants are held out of total eight sacred white elephants. (ช้างเผือก)

Witness the Largest Marble Buddha being carved in ONE stone. As we know, Myanmar is rich in natural stone. This stone was carved in Mandalay and was transported via river to Yangon. A massive task.
Foreigner will need to pay 5000 kyat entrance fee. This place is just 2 Km from the Airport and can arrive within mins.

Worth having a look before you drive into the city, this won't take too much time. This Buddha was made out of one huge piece of white marble and carefully transported to its position on the top of a hill. The problem is they have encased it in glass and you cannot get a decent photo of it without reflection. It is near to the park with white elephants - do NOT go there, very cruel!

The marble temple is in Yangoon. They found marble in Rakhine and craved part of it then seat to Yangoon. They keep the buddha statue in aircon because it will crack when its too hot.

This impressive statue of Buddha is carved from one piece of white marble and it is a pity that the authorities chose to hide it behind a glass partition which detracts from it. Nevertheless, the Buddha "house" and accompanying buildings are worth the trip out to the site if you want some extra sightseeing in Yangon. It costs about 5,000 kyat to get there by taxi but we arranged a taxi to take us there, wait for us, go to the white elephants, wait again and then drive us back to the hotel for 9,000 kyat. It was an interesting drive that went past a number of other sights.
It costs nothing to enter the complex although there is a scam going by one of the local boys to charge 500 kyat to take photos. I asked the security guard at the complex as to whether I could take photos, (as bad as they are with the reflections in the glass), and he said that there was no fee for photos.

Kyauk Taw Gyi is located at 10th miles, Yangon. Traveling here from downtown is a little far and taxi fare is around 5000 kyat maximum.

This is the popular and biggest pagoda at northen part of Yangon near the airport. The main attraction is the marble white buddha in the main praying hall of the temple. However, the buddha is covered in glass box and sunlight reflection on the glass always disappoint us.

Previously they also have a big snake here but now the snake is gone.

Foreigner visitor need to pay to enter but again I really think that it is not worth at all. They just take it as a chance to earn money. If you have proper wear, just walk in confidently, do not go to the counter.
