Felt so welcome at this place recommended by a nearby restaurant. Fixed prices, warm welcome, and tons of honest and useful advice - basically unlike any other place in Essaouira or Morroco. Prices might be a tad higher on spices but it's so worth it - excellent service, great spices and importantly, labels with the name of the spice! Bought all the spices I wanted to bring back from there in one shot, saved me a lot of trouble!

We had read reviews of Habiba's shop and found her in the Medina without trouble.
My niece, my great nephew and I all picked our designs off her phone.
She was knowledgeable about henna and all the spices in her shop.
Habiba is the first woman to open a shop in the Essaouira Medina...pretty special!
in the end my husband decided to get a stylized guitar on his arm also!
Would go back to her in a minute...

First of all the lady who runs the shop is so friendly and nice. My friend got a bit of a cold and she recommended some tea for the fever.
She makes beautiful henna tattoos and there is something for every price range. Tattoos do itch a little because of the lemon juce in it, but it's natural and nothing serious.
She can also recommend some recepies to go with the spices.
A very good experience.

I had a black one stretched from shoulder to my elbow.(There is no mention of allergy testing.) Within 24hrs the whole thing was eating through my layers of skin, fluid running everywhere, doctor out twice to re-dress wounds, flew home where the hospital have taken over.A week on,they're still re-dressing every 48 hours. They have even talked about skin grafts,at best, bad scarring. Nurse told me she was familiar with dangers of black Henna, but mine is worst she's seen. Google this problem and you'll see the explanation (and pictures) - Henna is not black, it's the additive that's potentially dangerous for sensitive skins. I've left this review so that you don't go through the same. Like everyone else on here, I agree that the lady and her shop are lovely, and stick to coloured Henna (which is organic) and you'll be fine.

Loved going to visit Habiba and discovering all the Argan products, make up tricks (Khol, Berber lipstick). Sitting, laughing, drinking Royal Tea. I couldn't help but brought some home and presents for friends. Habiba is so full of life that going to" Au Petit Bonhomme La Chance" became a routine and a highlight of the walks around the amazing Medina of Essaouira.
Can't wait to visit again!

I went to Habiba following the suggestion on Le Guide du Routard which says she uses natural prodcuts. It's the 5th black henna I've done in my life and I've never ever had an allergic reaction. One month later and I'm still treating this one with cortisone. In addition the price is not really cheap. I wouldn't trust any of her other products.

Habiba is just the nicest lady. I had a cold and was wandering about in the medina and found her shop. She gave me tea, some peppermint crystals and nigella seeds to sniff in a piece of fabric - wonderful!
Her shop does all kinds of wonderful smelling things from spices, to blocks of scent and henna tattoos.
It was an almost magical find and I felt very safe and cared for sitting having tea with her and chatting about life in Morocco
I'll definitely go back :)

I have always gone to Habibi for my henna and never once had a problem. On my first visit to Essaouira I went to a place on the corner of the ramparts and ended up in hospital. They did the natural brown henna and then put chemicals on top and put cling film over it and said it would turn black. The henna obviously didnt but my arm swelled up and turned black. I was in hospital in Agadir and had to extend my holiday as I wasnt well enough to travel. Habibi is the only one I will trust now.

Took my four daughters here for henna while in Essaouira. Habiba the owner was extremely kind and came out to find us when we had trouble locating her shop. (Which is just opposite the museum). All in all a great experience and girls all happy. She has a lot of designs on her phone which you can choose from. Or just draw your own as one of my girls did.
I had my baby with me, she let me feed her and change a smelly nappy while waiting. Slightly expensive but I was happy to pay as didn't want to risk dodgy henna on the beach for a lot less!
