About
A small, family-run, rustic, farm animal attraction devoted entirely to micro and miniature animals. See cute micro pigs, miniature donkeys, Teddy Bear sheep, pgymy goats, alpacas and miniature chickens. You can even arrange to take them for a walk (extra charges apply). Small play area for the children while you chill in the mini cafe area. With only a small number of visitors booked in at any one time, our guests are able to spend a peaceful couple of hours mingling with our tame animals, many of them free-ranging. Huckleberry Woods is not the sort of place where you rush between loads of animal enclosures and man-made distractions. It offers an hour or two of peace and serenity. Time to relax. Time to 'be' not just 'do', time to reconnect with nature and experience close interaction with animals. Based minutes from Faversham in Kent. Closed Mondays and Wednesdays - ADVANCE BOOKING REQUIRED. Sturdy shoes required to enter - strictly no open toed sandals or flip-flops.
Duration: 1-2 hours

- Don M11 contributionsA great family outingI visited huckleberry today with my partner and son. What a lovely family visit it was… the staff and animals are lovely, you can see how well the animals are looked after. What a lovely family outing this is.. I’d highly recommend if your looking for a nice animal day out with family/friends. Just a shame I hadn’t booked for the personal animal walking but you can buy feed and feed the animals as you walk around, the pricing for this is also really good. Thank you to huckleberry woods for a great day out!Hi Don - and than you for your kind review. Glad you enjoyed your Huckleberry visit and hope to see you again for one of the animal experiences. My son is a pig enthusiast and there was a lot of anticipation and nervousness that it might be a let down but he had a joyful time. We took the donkeys and pigs for walks, and had tea and cake. They give you feed for the alpaca and chickens. The whole place is small but well set up, the animals are so cute and well loved. I highly recommend visiting- and you can buy fresh chicken and duck eggs at the cafe. Please support this place by visiting and giving great reviews.Thank you very much for your lovely review. We had the pleasure of walking the donkeys , the staff guide was informative friendly and clearly loved her job. The two donkeys were so cute we even got to brush them . There are chickens, alpacas , pigs, sheep goats all wandering free . There is a little cafe for a drink and cake afterwards. With the chickens running towards you to greet you,to the sheep cuddling in and the pigs wanting a belly rub! each and every staff member we spoke to were incredibly kind, approachable and knowledgeable. You are made to feel most welcome, the set up is wonderful and the animals so well cared for and loved! - Gemma K1 contributionA fun and relaxing farm experienceMy favourite thing about this place is that is was a closed session. It provided a much more relaxing environment for kids and I can also imagine that for anyone with sensory needs or even if you're not a fan of crowds this is a much more enjoyable way to experience time with farm animals. On top of that, the team were fab and very friendly. I can't wait to go back again. We took 2 adults and 2 toddlers who we kept on reins so they didn't run up to the animals.Thank you very much for your kind review. There is a review on here called 'fleeced and speechless'. It is quite harsh but I can see where the family are coming from....sorry.
This place is quaint and rustic and I loved the animals, but I think you do need to book a walk with one of the animals to have any attention and it is quite expensive for what it is. However if you book knowing that it isn't a slick professional farm with loads to do then you will not be disappointed.
We had some crossed wires as we thought only one adult could come in with a child. That isn't the case so my husband was left outside. I was then told he could come in so I spoke to a different lady and she then said he couldn't be let him for 20 minutes as all of the hosts were on walks. The entrance is a little shed with a key so I can't see why aomeome couldn't have run over. I would have done it myself but I had a 2 year old to supervise.
Generally in my opinion this experience is something for the little ones and it is definitely unique. If I had come with adults and driven a long way I would have been disappointed.
The woods are quite eerie and not pleasant to walk in at all (and strewn with tat and huge weeds), so I can't understand the positive comments about this part of the 'experience'.
The little animals are very cute and there is a swing and slide for the kids. The hosts are very friendly and it is something a bit different, but don't expect a life changing experience.

Thank you for your input which I feel is unnecessarily harsh and requires a detailed rebuttal. I appreciate you had a stressful few days with your child being unwell but this is rather unfair. Our website makes it very clear that we are a wild rustic small attraction - this is what we are and we make no apology for that. If you were looking for a slick, commercial operation then we are most definitely not the place for you. You were staying with your family in our cottage on site and we have done nothing but try and accommodate your requirements. Specifically:
1. Your child lost interest in her Teddy Bear sheep experience after a couple of minutes and you decided that you did not wish to carry on. This was your choice not ours and we offered to continue with the walk later during that session, during the afternoon session or during the session the following morning - you decided not to. However you did rather bizarrely, after having been given three other options, ask to be let into the orchard outside our opening hours - hours before opening the following Sunday morning. We declined your request, which I suspect has, in part, led to your harsh words - if you knew the amount of preparation that goes in to a day's session, beginning at 5am you would, I'm sure, not have made such a request - or perhaps you would.
2. Our information makes it clear that visitors staying in our cottage are able to come in to the orchard free of charge during our opening hours - you misread the information. Each morning session begins at 10.30 with a health and safety briefing. Your husband was not present for the beginning of the session and wished to come in when we were busy helping guests with animal experiences. We're a small, family run attraction and it's clear from the notices on the door and our website that you may have to bear with us as we are helping other visitors with experiences. As soon as we were safely able, and within a few minutes, we went to let him in but he wasn't there.
For your information, I have only just finished clearing up our cottage from your stay (it took 2 hours) complete with rubbish left on the side, dirty cups and dirty un-emptied bins which is totally unacceptable given the current Covid situation and given how careful we personally are being with our Covid measures both in the cottage and in our orchard.
Most of our visitors appreciate our orchard and our efforts but of course, you can't please everybody.

A Birthday treat
'Teddy Bear Sheep Experience for 2'
We paid £86 and travelled quite a way to literally briskly walk with the sheep for 8-10 minutes. The staff bribe them along with a bucket of food in their faces - no time to stop and sniff 🐑
Didn't really see the pigs as they were out on experiences.
Llamas are cute I think we saw 2?
Our price included afternoon tea £4.95 each.
(A small plastic cup of juice and a very small cupcake)
You could have tea or coffee if you wanted.
The outdoor cafe is far too small to accommodate the ticket holders - you are sitting very closely amongst others and what they serve is very minimal...
Nothing savoury at all.
Quite disappointing and in my opinion advertised much different.
Such a shame because other reviews suggested a much better experience.

So sorry you were disappointed with your experience. Did you raise any of this with a member of staff while you were here at all? To answer the points you raise - the sheep sometimes go fast, sometimes slow and sometimes need a bit of encouragement with plums, monkey nuts and branches of elderflower, which is usually all taken as part of the fun and is exactly as advertised. After the walk you are then left to cuddle and pet the sheep in their paddock as long as you'd like to.
We have 10 mini pigs, and the maximum number that are having a walk in the orchard at any one time is 3 - leaving 7 pigs snuffling in their paddocks and 3 walking on harnesses in the orchard where our visitors are spending time. I'm not sure how you could have missed them all - they're not known for their silent snuffling.
We have a fresh air mini cafe, to go with our mini farm, as advertised, which, like most eateries, is sometimes busier than others. We offer hot and cold drinks, cakes and ice creams but, being a tiny family-run venue, I can't manage to produce savory food as well or I would well and truly be pushed over the edge! The cupcakes are homemade and are standard cupcake sizes as far as I'm aware.
I'm sorry you didn't like our little farm.

We had a lovely afternoon to remember when we visited to walk the donkeys and pigs. We were so lucky the weather stayed dry so we could enjoy our visit and see all the animals and staff!
We were a little embarrassed as we are two adults but it was fine and it was interesting to hear about the establishment, animals and facts from the team.
The donkeys were adorable and we loved their characters and idiosyncrasies. Trotsky the pig was hilarious power munching his way around the woods like the big lad he is.
All round off with a nice cup of tea and a cupcake; I couldn’t believe the two hours had flown by and it was said to say good bye to Chick Norris. I didn’t imagine when I woke up that I’d be stroking a massive turkey.
We wish you all the best for the future.

We had a lovely time there and all the staff were lovely and happy to chat to you about the animals, it’s quite small and not that many animals but it’s extremely friendly and it’s very interactive with all the animals. Recommend buying a bag of food and they are so gentle taking it from you. Don’t wear your best clothes or shoes but there are wellies you can use. Facilities are very basic but it’s a farm! I would go again and would recommend it

Thanks for your review Helen. Yes we are indeed a small and rustic farm attraction, with much more personal interaction with animals than usual. The idea is to spend time chilling with a number of very friendly free ranging animals rather than rushing about feeding lots of different animals in paddocks - that's not what we're about at all.
All the best

This place is a hidden gem.
It’s size allows more time with the staff and to listen to their knowledge about the animals.
I would recommend doing an experience like walking the donkeys (it was so good)
The animals are brilliant, the staff are friendly and welcoming and the little cafe on site served good coffee and the cupcakes are a dream!

We visited Huckleberry Woods to walk the micro pigs and had a super time. Being able to walk the pigs in such a tranquil, peaceful setting with such knowledgeable staff was an amazing experience and we both came away knowing lots of information about pigs, who knew pigs wagged their tails when they were happy! The staff were all incredibly friendly and cheerful and it was lovely to mingle with all of the other animals in their natural environment. Boris the sheep was a firm favourite. Being able to feed the animals was an added bonus too. The woods offer a selection of animal experiences and we would highly recommend a visit.

I took my animal loving 4 year old grandson, it was lovely! He loved feeding the turkeys, chickens llamas and donkeys. Lots of litttle micro pigs to see, some woolly sheep to stroke and he was thrilled to see 'Jemima Puddleduck'. Staff are knowledgable and friendly and we can highly recommend the hot chocolate and cupcake in the cafe 😊

We came here on a bit of a whim (prebooked the night before) and it was excellent. We were lucky that there was availability, as it’s quite small, but very sweet. The owners are very knowledgeable and helpful, and the animals all have a lovely temperament. We booked to walk the micro pigs and had a lovely amble around with them. We also had tea and cake in their orchard.
It was really well prepared with hand washing and sanitizer, and they have an eco toilet (and bless them, a baby changing table in the office!) We spent a happy two hours here in the sunshine.

We visited huckleberry woods on a Saturday and took part in the donkey walk. It was great! It’s got beautiful scenery, chickens, 2 alpacas and 3 sheep roaming around. There are pens with the other animals in but you can see them and feed the donkeys in their pens. The donkey walk was lovely, we got an extra bag of food each for them and got to pet and stroke them as we walked them round the grounds. It isn’t somewhere to spend more than a couple of hours but it is advertised that way so it was what we were expecting. I was pleasantly surprised when I used the toilet as so many people were moaning about it. It’s about the size of two portaloos next to each other, there are 2 seats, one for men and one for women and the waste drops below (just don’t look into the toilet). There is disinfectant, air freshener, soap and running water, it wasn’t the most pleasant smell but not awful! The website advises you that they have an eco toilet and that it is better for you to do your business elsewhere. The staff were lovely and chatty and I would certainly recommend this to people. The negative reviews are clearly from people that haven’t read up about the place properly. Please don’t let it put you off as we had a wonderful time!

A real hidden gem. We booked the micro pig experience for my daughters 8th birthday and she absolutely loved it. We were in a group of eight and everyone came away saying what a lovely time they had had. The staff are lovely and very helpful. As soon as we entered we were greeted by free roaming alpacas, chickens and turkeys.after feeding them for a while we were free to roam and go and see the sheep, donkeys and pigs. All of the animals were super friendly, happy and clearly well looked after. My daughter was given the choice of three pigs to choose from and we were told all about them. The experience itself lasted a lot longer than expected so very good value for money. They did quite a few laps around the farm and it there was plenty of time for photos and to chat to the guy leading the walk, who was great.
We used the cafe whilst the kids had a go on the rope swing and had a lovely coffee/ muffin.
The toilets are composting toilets which we are used to from some camping sites but they were very clean.
There is a small hut on the way out which has a small selection of sovenirs so we treated her to a cuddly toy pig on a lead which was standard price you expect to pay.
We love the fact this isn’t a zoom around looking at all the enclosures type of place like other zoos or farms but a relaxed, quaint little farm where you can enjoy a couple of hours watching and feeding the animals in what felt like a very personal experience. There are other friends and family members we know would love this place so we will definitely be back.

So sorry only just seen your question.
The ladies that run it are lovely and i do not think would object to a child having a packed lunch. Yes shorts are good although there are animals obviously and some are walking free.
Super place to go.
