We decided to eat here after recommendation by friends when we were in the area. It’s a loverly building with an impressive lounge area with an Elizabethan Hall. The food was excellent, my partner had a huge steak with chips and accompaniments cooked to his liking that he had been missing in this trip. I had pasta with prawns which was too big for me. We had starters but no pudding, followed by coffee in the hall by the fire. The staff were very helpful as we looked at the rooms which were very reasonable priced but quite plain The parking has an hard standing area to one side to park the bike. We changes out of bike boots and jackets to eat at night. Weekdays are best as they specialised on weddings at the weekends, rooms could be full. We only ate and did not stay. Would eat there again.

Lovely building, great staff, poor afternoon tea which was surprising given the price. I meet up with friends all over Lancs/Yorkshire on a regular basis and this rates as the worst afternoon tea we’ve had. Although upon delivery it looked good, it really was tasteless. Two pieces of dry bread, no butter and a piece of ham constitutes a sandwich? What happened to elegant finger sandwiches with succulents fillings. Don’t expect them here! Lovely soup though in a small coffee cup. One small scone, various bland pastries, ok if you like coconut. On the plus side copious cups of tea and fairly decent champagne at £10 a glass.
This venue is a James’s Place, let’s hope the others in the chain are better but I won’t risk trying them.

This is such a beautiful place but what a shame about the ‘music’. Surely in a place like this we should be listening to classical music not the groaning moaning noise which we experienced yesterday. I would not consider staying for a meal in this atmosphere. What s list opportunity!

We attended a wedding event here, although we didn't stay over (Couldn't get a room)
From the moment we arrived, we could not fault the service and friendliness of the staff.
The main hall is fantastic and so impressive. The function room is to the left after a couple of rooms with a large bar. Prices are rather inflated, but that is to be expected.
There is another bar beyond the main function room. Beware the Gents toilets here. After using the facilities the wash basin is right behind the entrance door and you will get hit by it as other needy users come in behind you.
The food served was excellent and a good portion too.
The wedding planner was on the ball and very attentive to the wedding couple's needs.
I saw one of the room's (My son's) It was the Tudor Suite and looked very plush, with a massive bed. Separate seating area and views towards the river.
A good event held in a beatiful building with professional staff.

This venue is amazing. Stunningly and lovingly restored with very friendly and welcoming staff. Food was superb and plentiful throughout the day, from canapes to wedding cake. Choice of food, wines and spirits was second to none. Extremely beautiful venue in a romantic and tranquil setting.

I can’t fault this place. Amazingly beautiful building which has been tastefully updated to amalgamate the old with the new. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. The surrounding countryside is England at its finest and so unspoilt.
I’d definitely recommend this hotel for a couples break or wedding venue. Superb!

We’ve stayed here on a couple of previous occasions, but always in the Mitton suite. This time, that particular room was booked so we were offered the Ribble suite on the basis that is was an equivalent grade room to the Mitton suite (and it was charged at the same price). However, our impression on arrival was that the Ribble suite was smaller and inferior to the Mitton suite. The bathroom was especially disappointing - it was freezing cold, the shower was a fairly feeble electric one, with no shower door so the whole floor got soaked. The extractor fan didn’t work and the whole tap assembly on the wash basin was loose. There was a very limited supply of toiletries, no face cloths and no soap at all (just a hand-wash dispenser fixed to the wall). This is billed as a premium suite in a high-end hotel, so what we experienced really wasn’t acceptable. The door lock on the main room to the door was also faulty - it was a real fiddle to lock and unlock, which could have been a safety issue in the event of having to vacate the room in an emergency. On a more positive note, the setting and the building itself are excellent; the staff were friendly and the breakfast was reasonable (although the waitress seemed very flustered, despite there only being three or four tables occupied). We did discuss our concerns on checking out, so hopefully the management will have taken some steps to address them.

Had a great time at Mitton Hall for my sister-in-law’s wedding. The staff were exceptional, particularly Ethan from the bar, who looked after us for two days. Thank you 😊
