We weren't expecting such a diverse and amazing collection of historical artifacts. Great place to research local history. Our tour guide was truly knowledgeable about the extensive collection and very enjoyable to listen to during the tour! There is no fee for a tour but donations are appreciated. Walk-ins are welcome, no appointments are needed, check the open hours before stopping by.

Were here twice in April to research wife's ancestry. The staff was very helpful and they put in a considerable amount of time working with us. The museum itself was large and on multiple floors. The history of Potter County and its families was very nicely represented. The staff were very knowledgeable. On one note, these people were experts in my opinion. When you visit, there is no charge either. A contribution would be nice. There is not just a someone there when you visit. These people are the real thing.

We loved it here. When we arrived the normal guide wasn't there but the chap (and am so sorry didn't get his name) who works in the office let us in and showed us around. He was brilliant and we actually spent nearly 2 hours in there! Room after room of amazing collections of various things from uniforms to wooden carvings, history of area to gramophones-just really eclectic collection. My favourite was a massive mini fairground carved from wood that all moved and a carrousel too-amazing amount of work. If your in this area please do visit here, there is no entrance fee-just donations welcome if you havd the means

As with most county historical societies & museums, the Potter County Historical Society's focus is on the history of the county and some of its more prominent residents, merchants, etc. What is surprising is how much they have. They have many artifacts and 2 floors of exhibits. One would not think so by looking at the exterior of the building, which is located in the town's center. Its exhibits include numerous artifacts of various themes. It is definitely worth a visit to learn about local and regional history.

The museum is fun for all ages. It's worth the trip just to see the handmade carnival set up. The tour guide made the experience fun for the kids. They could even touch and hold some of the things on display.

Loved visiting the Museum. The building used to house the town library, and it is beautiful with lots of original woodwork and architectural details. The volunteers at the museum are very happy to share information and to assist with genealogical searches.

Huge place with extensive collection of Potter County artifacts. Absolutely the best historical tour we have had anywhere. One of largest collections I've seen; I'd compare their collection to a state museum. If you want your kids to learn about PA history, beyond the textbooks & to TOUCH some bits of history... I highly recommend!
Lumber, weaving looms, Civil War rifles, tons of old toys (amazing display of carved moving toys!), music (instruments, phonograph & old records), baseball, firefighters, animals, blacksmith, tanning, irons (several types!), glass & what all those odd shaped pieces are for, tile, rural postal service carriage... Soo much!
We plan to visit again when we are in the area.
Free; donations appreciated. Series of steps throughout. They might have an elevator, but I didn't see one.

If you like local history, give this a look. Volunteers guide you through the building and discuss the history of the area. There's a toy room downstairs.

Greetings, I am a member of the Mills Union church, Mills, Pa. I am looking for information pertaining to the construction of our church building, and am wondering if you might have information that I can look at? I am especially interested in when the stained glass windows were installed. Thanking you for your help, Jeanette Barker, Ulysses.
