The pier was closed due to Covid but you can still do crabbing over the wall to the right of the pier as you look at it. Can buy nets and buckets at nearby shops. Got bacon bait from Spar on the high street. Kids were very happy for a few hours and caught many crabs. Got some chips and made for a nice few hours.
Easy to park and walked passed the Castle but didn't go in. Nice town to spend some time in.

We were staying in Llandudno & had a Day out, stopping off at Beaumaris. I had no idea what was there, buy fortunately found the Pier. As i started walking along the Pier, i saw people putting Life Jackets on. When i got to the End of The Pier, i saw why. There were Boats of different Shapes & Sizes, some with Inboard Engines, some with Outboard Engines. I think 1 Trip was going to Puffin Island, others were for Thrill Seekers, holding on as the Boats Sped Off, turning this way & that. Then there is also the Beautiful Scenery. Beaumaris - A Hidden Gem.

Staying in Beaumaris for a family celebration we visited the Pier a number of times. The views are really stunning from here!
We also had a great time crabbing off the pier. The nets avaliable on the pier were great and we caught loads of crabs (all returned safely) much to my daughters delight.

After visiting the amazing Castle and having a quick bite in a restaurant we came for a walk here.
It's a very pretty seafront with a nice pier. A short distance from the castle and right beside the huge carpark.
It was late afternoon, the sun started to come out and there were only few visitors. A very peaceful, quiet place. Even in summer. You can see the nice hills across the water (Menai Strait).
It makes a nice little walk. Or just to sit down and watch the world go by. Don't miss out on the Gorsedd Stone Circle. Blink and you might miss it.
A nice way to end the day in this pretty town.

Surprisingly easy to catch crabs off the pier with equipment sold at the shop by the entrance. The 3 year old in our party loved it (as did the 30 somethings and the 60 somethings). All crustaceans later safely returned to the sea, none the worse for wear.
Fun for the whole family.

We were very lucky with the weather in late July 2021. The pier was a bit of fluke as the plan was to go to the castle. Luckily, with a quick turn we found free 2 hours parking. The area was very busy and there were tours. The sights were amazing showing the stunning Welsh mountains. Must visit.

We were nearly blown away - v windy when we visited. Great little Victorian era shelter at the sea end though. Meant you could sit in peace out of the wind and watch the boats bobbing away. Also beautiful first thing with only a couple of people out & about. Lovely sunrise over the hills. Gorgeous place to contemplate and pray.

We spent a pleasant time driving around the coast of this lovely island. First stop for a walk and enjoy the views was at Beaumaris with its castle and seaside walks. Some good shops to view as well.
Next stop for some drinks and the bay view was at The Ship Inn in Red Wharf Bay. Then round to Rhosneigr with a stroll on the sands. A most enjoyable day. Regards Gary Saunders

My wife and I bought ice-creams at the entrance to the pier, and strolled it's length. The views of the Menai Straits and the boats are lovely, and we enjoyed our afternoon in Beaumaris very much. Worth taking the time when you are in town.

Bit of information about crabbing at Beaumaris. We have an 8 and 4 year old. I am advised crab nets are expensive to purchase in Beaumaris and to be honest I don't know what I'm looking for. Will I need bait? is the pier not too high to see a crabbing line? help!

Is the gaol suitable for mobility scooters or wheelchairs please

The gaol is not in the castle, it is up one of the side streets, but it is well signposted. I can't remember it very well so l would be guessing about wheelchair/scooter access but l have found their phone number online, it is 01248 810921 or 01248 724444. If you have never been to Beaumaris before l highly recommend it, it is a beautiful little place.
