Beautiful
2019. aug. • Romantikus
Very glad we made the decision to walk up the gorge. Stunning scenery & legs definitely feel like I’ve used them but we went at quite a pace. Cool in the gorge with the cold water being a refreshing change to the hot temperature out of the shaded valley. Fine in shorts & t-shirt but absolutely need trainers or shoes with good grip as slippery rocks to be climbed on. Water came half way up thighs as I’m only 5ft so be prepared to get wet shorts!
Several stages to the walk & you can turn back at any point. It was free to enter but had to leave ID as deposit (driving license was sufficient) with desk where we borrowed helmets.

Good fun, beautiful surroundings

Not much to add to the other reviews. Except a pro tip: wear watershoes. Most types that fully enclose the foot will be just fine. And better than having heavy soaked hiking boots or even sneakers.

Energetic Family Day Out.
2019. júl. • Családi
Our trip to Tuscany coincided with July's European heatwave. Our day out at Orrido di Botri provided a welcome respite from the heat, and a degree of much needed physical activity. This is a beautiful place. The gorge is much deeper than we had anticipated with rocks towering high above, creating a cool, quiet haven. There was no entry charge when we visited (helmets provided free of charge). We went in the morning and there were very few other visitors. The walk itself starts off fairly easily
and becomes increasingly demanding as you progress. It is possible to turn back at any point but the journey to the top pool is perfectly manageable by anybody of average fitness and agility. Often the simplest route is through the water (above knee height) so dress accordingly. Trainers suffice. Our teenagers romped up and thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
N.B. take the advice of other reviewers and take the SP56 route

Fantastic walk! Must do
2019. júl. • Családi
Fantastic walk, 9yr old managed the entire walk with some tricky roped parts towards the end, it’s beautiful and perfect for a day out. Words of warning though , the sat Nav had two roads leading to it but one is terrible and will likely damage your car , no tarmac. Also the small restaurant at the entrance looks appealing but the food was nothing like what was advertised on the menu at the road entrance so would avoid that.

Splendid water hike in magical canyon
2018. júl. • Családi
Trek in an aquamarine stream enclosed within emerald green alpine canyon walls. Our whole family (including primary-school aged children) loved this stunning water hike..

The full hike takes about 1.5-2 hours each way, and gets progressively more difficult, although most people should be able to do it as long as you are wearing sturdy shoes with good traction that you can immerse fully in the bracing cold water.

A more extreme trail is available at the end of the standard trail by prior arrangement.

Unlike many sites in Italy, this is very reasonably priced (mandatory helmet rental + admission = 2 Euros each, and the Monday we went, it was free). We were told that it gets very crowded if you do not go early in the morning, but we went on a Monday at 11:00 in July and found it was not very crowded at all. Perhaps this precaution applies to Sundays/August.

Clean bathrooms and nice picnic grounds at the entrance/exit, and a full restaurant as well.

One word of caution: Have at least one excellent and experienced driver in your party, as all roads to get here are riddled with hairpin turns and steep drop-offs. The road from Montefegatesi is, in addition, very poorly paved; SP-56 is a better road.

Loved it so much we went twice!
2017. júl. • Családi
The first time we went to Orrido di Botri was in the middle of the afternoon. That did not give us sufficient time to explore much (you need approx 4h there and back), but enough for the whole family (kids 6 and 10) to want to come back, and better prepared. You definitely need hiking shoes for this one, and have to be ready to get them wet! In fact when we came back we also took swimming trunks. Although the water is very fresh even in summer, it's just too tempting with the clear water and boulders to jump from.
The beginning of the hike is easy enough with kids, but it gets a bit more difficult after an hour or so, when you need to walk along an edge, even if there are ropes to help you.The good thing about this hike is that it's fun all along, whether you jump from boulder to boulder, walk through water or climb the rocks.
Next to the carpark is also a nice picnic area.
A word of warning on the road you use to get there. We blindly followed our GPS app to get there and ended up on some track coming from Montefegatesi which is not for the faint hearted, and also not for common cars. It was a single track, very steep (on occasion the car was sliding down...) with big rocks that scrape the bottom of your car. That was another lesson we learned and we didn't use that track the second time!

Excellent hike and easier than expected
2017. aug. • Egyszemélyes
The hike through the gorge is absolutely beautiful. It was also easier than I expected. You definitely will get wet, so be prepared for that, and take comfortable and appropriate shoes. Helmet you get at the entrance, in exchange for the entry fee of a few euros. Definitely recommended!

Beautiful casalinga food

This place is amazing for its tranquility and amazing food. Home made good - casalinga style was amazing to try. Beautiful place to take photos outside. Did have a high chair but no baby changing facilities.

Walking the gorge
2017. szept. • Családi
Exciting gorge walk through shallow water with one part of deeper turquoise water that you wade through about knee height. Didn't quite make the last part only because we started a bit later than we intended and had to travel back to where we were staying for evening meal. As long as you are ok with walking across rocks and small boulders you will really enjoy this experience. Helmets mandatory and only 2 euros. Should take 2 hours one way but we did a lot of messing and photo taking and had lunch half way... leave 5 hours in total if you are like us... Take a towel and change of clothes just in case.
