My Wife and I visited because the website advised that they had the largest collection of Tiffany glass in Europe. We are both lovers of this style and we’re delighted to learn that such a collection was virtually on our doorstep.
We therefore went on Wednesday (2 August).

The building is indeed magnificent and surrounded by beautiful gardens, we were looking forward to viewing the large collection and staying for lunch.

Regrettably it was a huge disappointment, there were barely any exhibits (bearing in mind our level of expectation had been set by “the largest collection in Europe” - there were just a few pieces scattered around different rooms. Whilst I accept that the collection may be of huge artistic significance, for those of us who just appreciate Tiffany for what it is I think that the advertising misleads visitors into expecting something that is not there.

If you are a Tiffany history devotee then I’m sure you will find it of huge interest, if however you just like Tiffany are expecting to see a large number of pieces then I’m afraid like us, you will be hugely disappointed.

The staff were very polite and friendly.

We were going to stay for lunch however I’m afraid that we found the decor in the dining room quite unwelcoming.

Most interesting place which still has the feel of a large family home in the Arts and Crafts style with superb Tiffany exhibits and other items of interest. Excellent tea room and gift shop with pleasant gardens . We will definitely come again

Visited to see the Tiffany glass collection which was fantastic and well worth visiting. Helpful member of staff at reception in Hall. Cafe was uninspiring. Food overpriced and surroundings were quite shabby. Gardens were wonderful.

My wife and I had an amazing day on 27th August 2022 , on our wedding day. The venue was more than we could have hoped for, friendly helpful staff who ensured the day ran smoothly, great food some of the best we have tasted. The grounds and the building were superb. All in all we could not recommend this venue highly enough.

This small museum has Europe's largest public collection of Tiffany glass. Free entry provides the opportunity to admire the well displayed and labelled exhibits sent to his home town by Joseph Briggs who had been the Tiffany factory manager.
It is well worth a visit, but beware the limited opening hours.

Having been recommended to try the new cafe we decided to take our German visitors to lunch. They start at 12 an we arrived at 12-45 only to be told in a very off hand manner that they were not serving lunches any longer as they had a wedding.. I explained we had brought our visitors specially they were not interested .
Don't go on a Saturday for lunch as if they have a wedding you won't get one .

We offer our sincere apologies you were unhappy with your visit to The Gallery Kitchen. We do appreciate that you and your overseas guests were disappointed that The Gallery Kitchen could not offer you a table at the weekend. A review of meal options has been made and an alternative menu will now be available if a wedding breakfast is being served in the music room. If you would like to attend at any time in the future please do not hesitate to contact The Gallery Kitchen to pre-book a table on 01254-491660.

Superb Arts and Crafts house. It would be great with nothing in it, but the Tiffany Collection really is stunning! Well lit, well explained, well displayed. My eyes were really opened.
And a lovely cafe. And very nice, knowledgeable staff.
Highly recommended.

Arrived for a wedding taking place today. Had a look around the venue and art gallery. We went into the bar area to get a drink prior to the ceremony starting. We were sat having a drink whilst hearing ‘Joe’ a bar tender complaining unprofessionally about wedding guests arriving who can’t sit down without ordering food and also that wedding attendees can’t just stand around outside the bar area. Very unprofessional and had a bad attitude. Will definitely not be ordering another drink or spending any money at the ‘bar’ again. The fact there isn’t any organisation into finding a seating area that is appropriate for wedding guests to sit at isn’t acceptable especially for myself who is 33+ weeks pregnant. Really dissatisfied and disappointed with the bar staff. Very unhelpful.

We are very sorry that you had a poor experience in the bar area of The Gallery Kitchen (which is a separate business to Haworth Art Gallery). We have taken this matter up with the Gallery Kitchen proprietor, who in turn, has discussed this with his staff. Please accept our sincere apologies, Weddings at the Haworth Team.

The largest collection of Tiffany glass outside North America has found an unlikely home in this Lancashire town. All thanks to an adventurous son of Accrington, Joseph Briggs (1872 - 1938), who sailed to find fame and fortune in America.

After wandering around the Wild West for a while, Briggs, an apprentices calico engraver, eventually landed up working for Tiffany Glass. Briggs never forgot his roots. He sent some stunning Tiffany pieces back to the people of Accrington, from shimmering vases and lamps through to iridescent mosaic tiles and a humorous bowl of glass goldfish encased in bubbles.

The collection is housed in the charming Haworth Gallery, an Arts and Crafts style jewel itself, and was established by cotton manufacturer and philanthropist William Haworth (1850 - 1913), whose home now forms the gallery. Close to the town centre, I could hear the chanting of Accrington Stanley footy fans echoing across the rooftops as I walked through a leafy park to the gallery.

This place is a gem: when you walk into the wood-panelled entrance hall, the house gives you a big, warm hug. The restaurant in a bay window fronted dining room serves mouth-watering meals, so classy you could be swanning around a country house hotel. The food was excellent and good value, proper meals such as fish and chips or homemade tarts, through to lighter lunches. Vegetarians catered for too!

In addition to the permanent Tiffany collection, the gallery has its own oil painting collection and is currently showcasing its Annual Open Exhibition, an eclectic and quirky mix of great contemporary work by local artists, which runs until 27 November 2016. The exhibition features abstracts, people and portraiture, woodlands, waterfalls, still life and animals. It's well worth a browse and most pictures are for sale.

Visiting the Haworth Gallery
The Haworth Gallery is free to visit and has free parking, the Gallery Kitchen restaurant and gift shop. Open Tuesday to Friday 12 pm to 4.45 pm; Sat & Sunday 12 pm - 4.15 pm. Allow at least a couple of hours to enjoy the collection and have a spot of lunch. You won't be disappointed.

Thank you so much for your very kind comments on your visit to Haworth Art Gallery. I shall pass your comments onto our staff and to the Gallery Kitchen where you enjoyed your meal. The Haworth Stables Block and Motor House has been undergoing refurbishment and has been transformed into Artist Studios and a small heritage centre. This will be open to visitors from January 2017 and we hope you will visit us again in the New Year to savour this new attraction. Best wishes, Yvonne, Gallery Manager
