What travelers are saying
- Anna SItaly9 contributionsBeautiful Turkish baths, restored yet not fully. Either way, you are in this gorgeous building, that has so much history, you can feel the energy of old ways, get some small snaps of how it must have been in its' glory days.
The light inside is incredible on a sunny day and the whole place oozes with history. Definitely recommend to see it.Written September 12, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - ChaitanyaCambridge, Canada1,243 contributionsThe water is amazing and beautiful.
The beach is nice - a little rocky at the start and makes wading into the water a bit tough and increases possibility of getting injured. But once, you are in - it is amazing and beautiful.
Nice beach and great to enjoy a relaxed afternoon.Written February 22, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. However, I made my way down to the basement archives where, with the aid of a wonderful staff, I was able to look up my family's roots in Chios. The records (kept meticulously by the Ottomans) date back to the 1700's. I gave them my mother's maiden name, and after a few minutes, they returned with an enormous ledger. The staff was actually able to find a record of an engagement agreement between my great grandparents. The dowry had actually been recorded. It was mind blowing. I plan to return to fill out the family tree, more thoroughly.Written September 15, 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Mike JChepstow, UK912 contributionsWe enjoyed a short walk around the outer wall before venturing inside the Castle area. Not much of the actual castle remains, however there are a few interesting spots such as the Turkish baths and also a couple of decent tavernas for a snack or meal.Written July 24, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - George C2 contributionsWent with my family and friends to see ancient archeological artifacts and saw a picture if a 2015 refugee camp picture. How the proprietor thinks it ties into ancient artifacts from an ancient era is beyond me. Would not recommend this museum to anyone. A nice stroll through tha ancient fortified town and skipping the museum would be advisableWritten September 10, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Belgo96Brisbane, Australia3,624 contributionsLook, you won't be troubled to find places that sell the mastic products in Chios...there are plenty of places that do. This one is displayed in a nice environment with friendly staff. There is a good range of the local product, which is very unique to the island. So many of the Chios people depend on mastic production for their livelihood, so I'm all for the marketing and sale of the product. It has a very distinct flavour/smell and you'll either like it on not, there isn't much middle ground. It is however, a great authentic souvenir to bring home that helps the local people, so its a good thing to buy on the island.Written November 25, 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - syn_efouBerlin, Germany42 contributionsA nice pharmacy in the centre of Chios town. Their own products "Maris Natural Remedies" range from cosmetics to medicine and they are really great: useful, genuine, with beautiful design! They are also a good idea for gifts, 'cause they are also traditional, you can find products made of the most famous product of Chios the "mastic" and not only! It's really worth your visit! And do ask Mr Giorgos Maris about personalised advice on any health problem you have, he has the answer!Written May 17, 2014This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
