Booked with El Sol Vida Fun tours, was picked up from our hotel and our driver was fabulous, told us about Jamaica history and the local area and was such a lovely guy. The nine miles experience was also great with a friendly informative guide. Would recommend even if your not a Bob marley fan.

This tour a property is definitely off of the beaten path but the trip makes the tour extra special. We learned a lot about the house & what is in it. The road getting up to the property is sketchy but is well worth it (don't be frightened off by the drive). The tour guide was fantastic. The property is beautiful & definitely well maintained. Take this tour if you have a chance.

I don’t like being hassled to buy stuff and there are so many shops in the strip every one wants you to buy stuff so it’s not my thing, looks a great place if you like to go and buy souvenirs and stuff and had a haggle

This was my final stop on my Kingston and Blue Mountain tour with Caribbean World that I booked with Althea at RIU Ocho Rios. You had to go up some steep steps to get to it. I’m out of shape so after the presentation I didn’t go up for the rest of the grounds. I stayed on the front lawn. The presentation on the history of coffee and what makes Jamaican blue mountain coffee unique was excellent. We sampled the coffee with small pieces of cake. Afterwards, we were able to go upstairs to purchase coffee. I paid in US dollars. I’m sure they took pounds as well because the majority of the group was from the UK. During the presentation, I did confirm with the presenter that Anthony Bourdain had filmed at this location for his episode in Jamaica. He also dined there and a part of that was in the footage. It’s sad that Bourdain is no longer with us, but I recognized the estate from that episode. The drive up is a little scary, but it was well worth it.
The coffee prices they charge you are a discount compared to when you get back to the tourist areas. I ended up going to the General Foods Market in Ocho Rios to get more 100% Jamaican Blue coffee as gifts. I’m not a coffee drinker, but if you go to this estate, have your money ready. Bring a shopping bag that you can keep folded in your purse, you will want to buy what you can because their prices are very reasonable. 90% of their product goes back to Japan. I didn’t see their brand in the market.

We tied this into a day trip from Montego Bay and the Bob Marley Museum. Only takes about 1 hour to walk around and you have a tour guide like everything else in Jamaica. Learning the history of Jamaica and how an earthquake took part of the land away but produced more land was fascinating. Cost to enter was $16 and our driver/tour guide got in free. If you are heading to Kingstown its worth some time probably would not make the trip just for the fort. Although this is the only fort on the island that has guides and has been kept up

Great views and nice historic references. The drive up is hairy. The building could be in a better state - but the view is incredible!

Sam Sharpe Square, originally called Charles Square was renamed in 1976 by the Jamaican Government to posthumously honour Samuel Sharpe. It is in downtown Montego Bay at the corner of market and St. James Streets in front of the Montego Bay Cultural Centre.

Samuel Sharpe (1801- 1832) was born in slavery on a local plantation. He became a Baptist Minister and local advocate for Emancipation. In 1832 he was one of the key figures of the Baptist War or Christmas Rebellion. Initially a peaceful anti slavery protest it soon devolved in the largest slave revolt in Jamaica’s history involving more than 60,000 slaves.

The revolt was put down and Sharpe was executed for his role in it, hanged in 1832 in the square that would later bear his name. This failed revolt however would lead to the Slavery Abolition Act by the British Parliament in 1833 and the abolishment of slavery throughout the British Empire in 1838. In 1975 the Jamaican Government posthumously proclaimed Samuel Sharpe a national hero with the title of the Right Excellent Samuel Sharpe.

The square is a lively location easily reached by foot, car or taxi and included in almost all tours of Montego Bay. As noted, it is in front of the Montego Bay Cultural Centre, originally the Courthouse building built in 1803 and destroyed by fire in 1968. It was rebuilt and opened as a museum.

The square itself contains a series of life sized statues depicting Samuel Sharpe speaking to slaves as well as signage explaining who he was and the importance of the site. Further exhibits are inside the museum. There is also a magnificent water fountain donated by Captain J. Kerr a local plantation owner.

To the side of the square is a small brick building referred to as “the Cage.” This single room building was used as a gaol to hold drunken sailors, vagrants and slaves who had failed to leave the town limits and return to their plantations by curfew.

As it is in centre of the city there are numerous restaurants around as well as shopping venues. There is no admission to the square itself although the entry fee to the nearby museum is $500.00 Jamaican Dollars. Visitors should take some precautions as the square itself borders on a busy roundabout.

Do not hesitate to book a tour!! My trip to Kingston was all that I hoped it would be & more. TTR filled me up & my cup runs over! Ashley went beyond every expectation & her genuine warmth, expansive knowledge of Kingston's highlights, impressive professional acumen & intuitive understanding of what I sought for my visit created a phenomenal experience. Kwesi, my personal guide, was my cherry on top! He accomodated my requests & whims with the 'no problem' ease which is the embodiment of true Jamaica culture. I am impatient to return...Kingston is calling me! I'm ready to immerse myself in the rhythmic, mystic flow in the heart of Jamaica & water new friendships so I can watch them grow. Big up TTR! Soon come. Mi a guh touch di road an find fi mi luv inna root an culture ❤🌞

Lovely and very interesting church. I recommend this stop. It doesn't take a long time, and it is free (although giving a donation is always good).

It is underrated gem. For anyone interested in the history of Montego Bay.

It is not a particularly big museum with 3 separate rooms down stairs and an art gallery upstairs.

The main area as you walk in delves into the Xmas rebellion of 1831 lead by Sam Sharpe who was hung outside this same building.

One room deals with the history of the island from the time of the first people through the colonial history.

One room is dedicated to the history of the Rastafarian faith on the island.

I did not spend a lot of time in the art gallery as I was running out of time but there was an on-site guide showing people around.

The displays are not the most modern but they do get their point across.

It’s a third world walk into the center of town where the Mueseum is located. You are unlikely to come to any harm but if you are nervous then get a juta taxi driver to take you there. Parking your own car there is tricky with few options.

Entrance fee 500 Jamaican dollars for locals not sure if there is a different price for internationals but take cash the day we were there their card machine was down.

There is great street art all around downtown Kingston. See also the Kingston Creative further south. And it's all free!

If you want to stay within close quarters of the cruise ship, here offers enough to do without heading out too far. With the Margaritaville within walking distance from the pier, you can easily make a day activity out of it. We personally enjoyed checking out the local wood work and crafts. We also really liked Patty Port’s Jamaican patties! Definitely a place to go to!

Now, if you want more out of your stay, consider leaving the compound using a safe and reputable company!

Stop here on the way to Negril from Montego Bay and was well worth it. This is definitely a world heritage site that's very well preserved with a great view across the water. Impressive window wall with the original canons make this a good stop, especially if you're a history buff.

I have to start with a positive. I loved the port itself, and the people in it, but not outside the port. Outside he port is very dangerous. DO NOT GO OUTSIDE THE PORT! I REPEAT, DONT GO OUTSIDE THE PORT!!! We made the ring decision of going to a beach outside the port. We walked outside and the first thing we see is a butt load of taxi drivers waiting right outside the gates. We already knew the name of the person we were looking for, and we said who, but everybody had to say that they were that person. We had to LOOK AT NAME-TAGS to make sure that they were the right person we were looking for. When we found our guy, we were led down a street that looked straight out of hell. Grafiti on walls, people staring at you like they want to rob and kill you, people watching you every move, people following you, and so much more. I felt bad for the people there. We were led down an alleyway, and I would say, it was sketchy. I was scared for me and my family. When we got to the the beach, I will say, it was beautiful. It was secured and enclosed. Very safe too and nice. Also, the port had many shops and restaurants. Also had a marketplace. Very secure security to let us get back on our Disney Cruise. Made me feel better.

If your going to the port, stay in the gates. It’s a safe place, inside the gates. If you get a taxi outside the city, make sure you double check everything. If you leave with a verified Disney taxi, your fine. Just try not to leave the port without a taxi. Thanks for reading this

We got a Taxi from our resort to the Hip Strip. When he dropped us off he said the price included a visit into the gift shop where we would get special offers and discounts. Take no notice this is just a scam. We then did a walk around the locals shopping area which is really difficult as you get pestered non stop by the locals and many people begging for money. One chap said wait there and then crossed us over the road we said thank you - he said never mind thank you just give us some dollars.
