What travelers are saying
- pinky5365Reading, UK41 contributionsAmazing experience on the zip line trek!
Our instructors , Tom and Annie, were so friendly on arrival and throughout our experience , both made us all feel at ease, and made us all so welcome. The trek lasted approx 3 hours, and completed 6 zip lines, doing one of them twice, which was really fun due to one of the zip lines being out of order. The walking involved was fine and only a few sections that are uphill. We got driven to the top of the start due to the storms this weekend however usually it involves a 20 min walk up to the starting point. We all felt safe the whole time and the zip lines really give you amazing views of the forest and surroundings. Some zip lines go quite fast , of speeds up to 45mph, would recommend for any one of any age or families that enjoy something different , it was great from start to finish!Written October 22, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Had to add on parking afterwards - which ought to have been more straightforward than it was - and in our opinion a little expensive, but overall the views and experience was well worth it!Written August 23, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Big Trev3 contributionsWhat a magical place to visit, imagining Beatrix Potter writing her amazing books at her desk. She truly was an inspiration to us all, a kind and generous human being.Written March 13, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Andrea BStratford-upon-Avon, UK4 contributionsFabulous! Both the house and gardens were delightful. The staff were really friendly as was the owner or joint owner - one of the Wordsworth family. I just hope I didn't insult her in any way before I knew she was one of the family. I visited on Thursday 7th March and was so fortunate with the weather and there being so few visitors as they had just opened and it being early in the season. I could feel the sunlight and the tranquility. I hope to go back.Written March 9, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Robert L21 contributionsDry weather albeit the left trail route was very muddy in parts tree roots helped us to haul us up some steeper parts care needed underfoot the descent adjacent to the road side is easier you could choose to ascend and descend on this side to avoid steep and muddy round trip other walkers had warned us of the mud hazard! Very pleasant views took a well earned refreshment break in the force cafe on the return legWritten March 8, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Kayleigh JNewcastle Emlyn, UK20 contributionsLoved this little place, full of character. The guide was very informative of the history of the building, my son had a go at writing with a quill. We purchased a book on the history of the school and a quill and ink.Written October 30, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - pesue1Nuneaton, UK571 contributionsWe drove from patterdale to ambleside ,the views are stunning with several pull ins to view from. At times it is quite narrow and has the occasional sheep on the road. The road rises to about 1,500 ft. At the top is the famous kirkstone pass inn although when we passed by it was closed. It can soon become weatherbound and in cloud so be careful,Written September 12, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - jan cShrewsbury, UK250 contributionsThe gallery was very good and well worth a visit if in the area and a National Trust member but feel it is rather expensive if not. Gentlemen on door very informative so could get best out of experience. Authentic dressing of rooms. Very small areas so glad we went while quiet. Upstairs would be inaccessible to some as very narrow steep stairs. Pity had to pay for car parking too as not NT and toilets 50p to enter which isn’t visitor friendly. Classic tourist trap. Good selection shops to wander around to make visit worth the parking fee!Written October 16, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
