We tried to spend our last day in Rome before boarding a plane late at night. We arrived in Tiburtina about 10am and was instantly confused about the layout - we found the place difficult to navigate, and felt constantly nervous given that we’d been told by our last Italian hosts that Tiburtina was probably one of the most dangerous places in Rome given the number of thieves waiting to prey on tourists! Eventually we found out way out of the station and tried to find one of the 4 listed luggage storage facilities that we’d seen advertised within 1km walk of the station. After walking in terrible heat with large suitcases for 1.5 hours, we found none of the storage places seemed to exist and gave up! Then found trains to airport were for some reason cancelled (no one seemed to want to say why!?) so had to resort to a taxi to airport and an 8 hour wait for our flight. A frustrating day to say the least.

I tried NTV attracted by the very low coatof the ticket.
Actually the trip did not value one cent more than I paid for: wireless not working, movie not working, uncomfortable seats, and, finally a 20 minute delay on a one hour and half trip.
Ridiculous! Let's go with Trenitalia and "Frecce"

I have been travelling along this route since I was young, until I left Rome to live in Tuscany.
I often come back to Rome and I still travel on this train to Ostia. The trains are new and in summer air conditioning usually works. Unfortunately it gets out of service sometimes, but in case of need you can reach Ostia passing from Fiumicino Airport by train. The price of the ticket is the same of the bus.
