What travelers are saying
- Arthur E.Providence, RI26 contributionsThe Teatro dell'Aquila (literally "the Eagle's theatre) is absolutely stunning. From the outside, you probably won't know that you are looking at it, but the inside is exceptional with very elegants decorations. Definitely worth it.Written September 24, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- Ruth-Ann MMontreal, Canada5 contributionsWe saw The Magic Flute here in April and were enchanted by the gorgeous theatre, intimate and impressive. - henriquesrogerLisbon, Portugal732 contributionsThe theatre is in Piazza della Libertá, right on the side of the Civic Tower. It is free to visit, a wonderful lady welcomed me and let me in, a bit before 13h00.
It was build in the 19th century, finished in 1884, and named after the musician Lauro Rossi, being a project of the architect Antonio Galli. It was built because the citizens of Macerata decided to build a proper theatre.
The place is beautiful as you can see by the pictures, and it must have a good acoustic.
If close by, I recommend a short visit! And it is free!Written July 31, 2016This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It is filled with spectacular paintings on the ceiling that make it well worth the visit. We combined this visit with a tour of the castle, which was wonderful as well.Written January 4, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - SteveJacksonnufcGateshead, UK11,032 contributionsWe walked straight into the small square called Piazza della Republicca from the port and there in front of us was the Teatro delle Muse. You really can't miss it. The building is fairly attractive but the square it stands on is compact meaning you are quickly drawn to the more open Corso Giuseppe Garibaldi pedestrianized street with its shopping areas. Shame as this building would benefit from a more spectacular location. The il TuoPrestito church in the square is attractive but the lack of space and continual traffic movements somewhat distract. Like us you will find yourself being drawn away fairly quickly meaning you'll not have enough time to take in the attractiveness of this theatre.Written October 11, 2013This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Las BuganvillasCartagena, Colombia920 contributionsThe theatre celebrates its year 200 years, it was opened for performance of Rossini´s "La Gazza Ladra". It has performances throughout the yea, but its international fame is derives from being a home to the celebrates Rossini Festival which takes place every August. As Rossini composed 39 operas, and few are given on teh world stage with frequency, the theatre draws audiences form all over the world to hear rarely performed works, always with top class singers, and frequently excellent productions too.Written August 18, 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - MKerenIthaca, NY106 contributionsWe were luck to get into this gem of a theater, which is closed while the local government sorts out scheduling. The interior is exquisite. If you can get an opportunity to see it, don't miss it! And be sure to look at the ceiling!Written July 3, 2014This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- VoxItaliaRome, Italy25 contributionsThe TEATRO CORTESI of Sirolo is built right into the wall of the ancient village of Sirolo, overlooking the Adriatic sea. It was inaugurated in 1875 and restored in the early 1900s and then again in the 1980s. The acoustics are wonderful, the theater is like a little jewelry box, Especially pleasing is the decoration of the ceiling which has ten female figures dancing in octagonal boxes arranged in a circle around the central rosette, from which hangs a crystal chandelier . It seats 220 people!Written May 25, 2013This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Georgina LAncona, Italy205 contributionsIt is worth seeing, in a particular setting, in the Coero natural park, but even on a very hot day take a jacket or even a blanket because an icy cold wind sets in at about 10 pm.Written August 3, 2012This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - RonaPalo Alto, United States22 contributionsI saw a wonderful production of Don Pasquale at Teatro Persiani, with terrific singing and acting, just four performers in a cleverly staged setting, and a small live orchestra. They came out and posed for photos after the show, and it seemed the whole town was there. The setting is beautiful and I wish they had more photos of the interior on TripAdvisor. When I was a student I used to go to standing room only performances at San Francisco Opera for $10, including La Boheme with Pavarotti. Now >20 years later, I got a private box seat with good acoustics for 10 euros, with less well-known performers but who are giving it their all. I have to admit I enjoyed the Recanati opera more.Written April 3, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
