It is not a fancy restaurant meal - it is a live walk through the city, and its tastes and smells! Perfectly if you are ready to dig deeper into culture and stories of Bologna food culture - but you have to take part in this show. Thank you Claire!

Alessandro's passion for the Emilia-Romagna region's cuisine was contagious! We booked his all-day food tour just two days after arriving in Bologna from the US, a bit apprehensive about the early 7 AM start. Let me tell you, it was absolutely worth it!

Alessandro, our punctual guide, whisked us away to a Parmigiano Reggiano factory – our first stop. Throughout the day, his knowledge and storytelling wove magic, making each destination even more captivating. Imagine this: indulging in fresh, warm ricotta, made right before our eyes, with aged balsamic vinegar (produced at the location you're in) drizzled on top as Alessandro shared fascinating details about the region's culinary heritage. Each stop brought us face-to-face with passionate producers, learning the processes and the stories behind their products.

Back home now, I find myself looking at food with a new appreciation, especially those native to Emilia-Romagna. I now actively seek out DOP and IGP labels, understanding the quality and origin they represent.

Thanks, Alessandro, for an unforgettable day exploring the delicious treasures surrounding Bologna!

Both Giuseppe and the food fit the title. Giuseppe was kind, personable and knowledgeable. We learned a lot about the food culture and history of Bologna and even some interesting history of the city. He made us feel at home, and we shared our family stories together. He showed us a market and osteria that were definitely local spots. Giuseppe chose local vendors that were not where most tourists stop as well. He even helped to pair wine styles we liked with the local food. Last stop before gelato was sharing his favorite spot for a caffe while downtown. Giuseppe went the extra mile and gave us last minute ideas for our dinner reservations. He generous personality/nature set the tone for the whole experience.

A full day that was very informative and fun. The private tour was pricey but well worth it! Our guide was informative, patient and pleasant and our driver was great as well. I would recommend this to anyone that is looking for something a little different and informative, especially if you love Italian cuisine!

This is a really good tour and definitely worth the money. Our guide, Valentina, was lovely with excellent English and great knowledge, pride and affection for her city. She took us to places we would be unlikely to find and brought Bologna and its food history alive. I wish I’d had more time in Bologna to revisit some of the places she took us to! A great way to start your tour of this lovely city.

    What an incredible tour!

Every stop was outstanding especially the host for the Moderna balsamic vinegar at his estate. The lunch served here was over the top FANTASTIC! The risotto with a drop of 25 year old balsamic vinegar left us speechless. Homemade lemoncello and walnut liqueur to wrap up the visit. WOW is all we could say on the drive back to Bologna.

The process for making the parmesan reggiano was amazing and so informative too. Our host knew the business very well and explained it so easy to follow and understand. All in all a great excursion. Just wish we could've had more time to order something.

The reason for the 4 stars was that our driver was overly pushy at the farm where the cheese is made and rushed us to wrap it up so could go to the next stop. Very rude while we were in the middle of the cheese tasting. We didn't feel that we had any time to shop in the store or order any of the cheeses since he pulled the van around and did everything just short of honking the horn. Then in the van he was constantly on his phone and using the radio speaker since it was hands free so very loud.

If possible, I'd like to find the contact information for the farm making the cheese so we could order some.

This was a little scary because we put our kids in a car with a stranger, but it was the dream of my son to ride in a Lambo. Both the 7 and 10 year old loved it. They only got up to 140 KPH-ish because they drive on the highway, but it was a convertible so the kids thought it was a lot faster. 10 minutes is about 120 USD. Very professional staff. The factory was closed when we were there, but it was still worth it.

Extremely informative tour of the historical center of Bologna. Good balance of history, culture and food. The passion of Ricardo for his city, art, architecture and its rich history came through. The pride and quality was evident. Good way to hit highlights of Bologna and to learn about its authentic food.

We didn't end up going on this tour as Frederico was too busy and said shops would be closed on Sunday. So not sure why he would offer the tour on a Sunday. I asked for a refund and he said he would so no problems. However it did not come after a week so I asked him to check it. In the meantime we discovered he did a cooking class. We decided to go and at the same time try and sort out the refund. The cooking class was ok and Frederico was a good host. But unfortunately the pasta is just bland and as Frederico said himself the food in Bologna is overrated. We did get a couple of tips. But too be frank, like most things in Bologna his class was extremely expensive. We eventually got the refund so not sure why it didn't work the first time. We ended up paying for his class on PayPal, they take a massive cut so if you can pay by cash do so. Overall the class was a nice experience.
