We went there on our way home in the early morning. At that time of the day we were the only visitors and we had lots of opportunity to enjoy the amazing view.

Il Rifugio is a well organized moutain hut. To reach it, you will need to follow a very well designed path starting from Valnontey - almost 1 hour walk from Cogne and climb for about 1.200 meters to reach the altitude of the Rifugio at almost 2600 meters. But the views of Gran Paradiso will pay back your efforts. Buona passeggiata!

There are several routes to get from Chamois to Lago di Lod. We took the cable car from Chamois one way up and went down (from the lake) by foot.
The surrounding is very welcoming with lots of place to sit and tables spread along the trees around the lake.
    We enjoyed our time there.
Chamois itself also have some very nice routes to hike.

Amazing national park. Lot of hikings around. Maybe most of them not suitable for kids. So be sure to look at the distance and terrain gain info.

A beautiful but somewhat challenging hike. We (family with two teenagers) took the cable car from Cogne. The walk is some 250 meter up from the start to the top. If you walk counter clockwise you will start with walking to a nice view point . From there it is up and you end walking along the top of the ridge with good view to both sites. It is not good if you are scared of heights. The last 40% of the trip are more normal hiking. If you don’t like heights do the walk clockwise and stop at the top of the ski lift and walk back down again.

Be prepared for a hard walk. Ensure you have good walking shoes and sticks. However you will be repaid at the top with the breath taking view and the total silence .

As far as waterfalls go these are pretty much average, but pleasant enough.

They are located on the trail, easily accessible by foot from the parking lot at the end of the road. The trail goes through a very pleasant forest and would be a nice short walk.
