We were there in May of 2022, a perfect time to go. The beach is reached by a short drive across open fields. No hotels or resorts here. The water is very clear and temperature is perfect. You can choose between the long sandy beach or find your own private nook and tiny beach along the lava rock shore. Wear sandals for traversing the scoria rock if you explore that part. At the western end of the beach is the iconic Monte Cofano and the nature reserve of the same name. For dining and shopping and more beaching, take the road a few km to San Vito lo Capo, a beautiful walking town with many shops and restaurants that come right down to the palm trees at the edge of a very wide and long sandy beach. Take a few minutes to visit the interior of the church located on the plaza in the middle of town. It's exterior gives little clue to the beauty of what's inside. You can walk to everything here. For accommodations, go to Serenity B&B in Castelluzzo. Paola and Giuseppe are superior hosts, the guest rooms (in a separate building with kitchen and dining area) are tasteful, modern, spotless, and comfortable. Breakfast is beyond excellent and you can eat overlooking the gardens and the slopes of Monte Cofano and it's neighboring hills, olive groves, and wandering sheep. You can't beat the value for the money spent as the rates are very reasonable. Spring and fall are perfect due to the weather and relative lack of tourists. Enjoy the locals!
