What travelers are saying
- Angelo ZEvant, TX300 contributionsThe cathedral is an impressive and impossing blend of Arab, Norman,Gothic and Baroque. The inside shares some of the same influences, there is much to see. There are different chapels, crypts and what’s called the treasury. You can also go on the roof but it’s very narrow. The park outside is a great place to people watch.Written January 1, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Jon LOlathe, KS261 contributionsGorgeous palace dating back to the 1100s, containing the Capella Palatina from 1132. The chapel was built in Norman/Byzantine/Arab style and is quite beautiful. The gardens outside are amazing, too.Written March 17, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- TomasoVernon_B_C_Vernon, Canada170 contributionsWe had such a fun tour with our Guide who spoke English very well and then switched to French for a young French couple. So many fun facts about the Opera House that were both interesting and fun to know. Highly recommend !Written February 20, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Angelo ZEvant, TX300 contributionsBeautiful church with a rich history. It’s a UNESCO world heritage site. One of the few church’s anywhere where both Greek Orthodox and Roman Catholic services and rites can be held. The cost is only €2 and well worth a visit.Written January 2, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- CynicorenBeersheba, Israel2,582 contributionsHundreds of skeletons are displayed, some in better, so in worse condition.
Most of them are dressed up according to their time, so it's interesting from that perspective, as there are dead from all walks of life.
Obviously, makes you think about your own mortality and life.
Taking pictures is not allowed.
The site is off the beaten path, so you have to take a bus (15-20 minutes drive from the city center), and walk in a strange route to get there.Written December 17, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Wonderful that it is still a home, lived in and loved. Highly recommend this visit. Allow time to find it - fairly neat the cathedral but in the backstreetsWritten September 23, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - NataliaD DCambridge, UK296 contributionsAmazing church, 100% worth a visit. Very unusual and beautiful decorations, takes your breath away. Only 2 euro per ticket / or 6 euro including a small but lovely museum. A must visit in Palermo!Written March 15, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Angelo ZEvant, TX300 contributionsThe fountain and historic plaza make for a good read before going and in my opinion are a must see. The fountain has many statues made from the famous white marble.
Imported from Florence. The fountain was very controversial in its day.
Was called the Fountain of Shame.Written January 2, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The 4 corners are interesting to see each has a different season and story depicted with statues and water fountains. It’s at the intersection of 2 major streets that you will want to stroll down. Musicians usually playing.Written January 2, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- SaleDamcSale, UK453 contributionsLoud, noisy and busy but that it part of the attraction. Plenty of stalls selling fresh fish, fruit and vegetables with enthusiastic vendors crying out, across the market, inviting you to sample their produce. There were many locals shopping there, which is a sign of how good it is and I have to say that walking through, some of the smells coming from the stalls was very enticing, and although I did not stop to eat, there were plenty of people who seemed to be enjoying their food, very much.Written October 29, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - CynicorenBeersheba, Israel2,582 contributionsWe came from Palermo for a 2-3 hours without booking a Lido (a spot in a private beach), Friday at 16:00. We were 2, so we bathed 1 by 1, saw other couples go together to the sea - I guess they felt safe enough.
The beach outside the Lido's is a small strip of sand (can be seen in the pictures) that was crowded especially by locals, but not too crowded.
The sea was extremely quiet, as a sea "hater" I did enjoyed my visit.
Remember that the downside of visiting the beach without a Lido spot - no showers or restrooms nearby.Written December 3, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Located in the historical city center, surrounded by buildings and churches that really need painting and renovations, you can find in its center a beautiful water fountain that ,sadly, doesn't work.Written November 15, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
