What travelers are saying
- georgia may b5 contributionsAn absolute must for a sunset/sunrise visit. It is a climb though so may be difficult for someone less mobile. Go with enough time to find a seat on the steps and bring a drink 🌞Written March 14, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Meander780271New Bern, NC12 contributionsThe galleries path is well marked, and I appreciated the information in English! It is mostly sculptures and religious art. Definitely take time at the rooftop terrace for lunch. You have to make your appointment for entry ahead of time. It’s included with the Firenze card .Written March 14, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Nancy SWilmington, NC4 contributionsWords cannot express how beautiful the statue of David is. The dome above him was built just for him. There are additional unfinished statues by Michelangelo as you enter David’s room. The artwork is beautiful and there is a music room with rare instruments-including a Stradivarius violin.Written March 4, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - FashionSpeedTravelSan Francisco, CA195 contributionsThe outside of the church on the piazza is so pleasant and beautiful, even in the rain. The respite inside, with the glorious altar and warm candle glow, is comforting. Spent less than an hour inside but if you’re a church buff (or Catholic), it’s worth taking in a service.Written March 6, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Strike_rightTunis, Tunisia86 contributionsWe stayed outside, but could not get in due to the long queue- it is really important to book in advance, though there was a queue of ticker holders to enter longer than the queue for tickets.
The outside is amazing, an essential Italian Piazza experience. Choose your season if you really want to save time.

- Herbert C891 contributionsAs the political heart of the Florentine Republic since the 14th century, Piazza della Signoria has been at the epicentre of many significant events in the city's history, from ceremonial events to festivals and rallies. After all, this square was the scene of the historic Bonfire of the Vanities instigated by the preacher Savonarola, who was then executed and burnt here in 1498 after he was denounced by Pope Alexander VI as a heretic. Several iconic Florence attractions made their homes right here at the square, including the Palazzo Vecchio, Loggia dei Lanzi, Neptune Fountain, replica statue of Michelangelo's "David", and Italy's top art museum, the Uffizi Gallery. With such a rich concentration of Florence's famous attractions, you can almost be guaranteed that this piazza will be constantly lively and buzzing with crowds. It is also relatively close to the riverside and the renowned Ponte Vecchio bridge, as well as conveniently linked to Piazza del Duomo through the shopping street, Via dei Calzaiuoli.Written February 8, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Eva Rivera BruguesToledo, Spain8 contributionsItaly's most exquisite cathedral! The interior's lofty ceilings, floor-to-ceiling marble mosaics, columns of black and white marble, and elaborate sculptures really left me speechless. There's also the beautiful ceiling in the library. To exchange your pass for a genuine ticket if you bought yours through GetYourGuide, you have to line up on the LEFT side of the cathedral. After that, you can enter the cathedral without having to wait in line.Written March 10, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - disgustorama89 contributionsMust do if you’re visiting Florence: the basilica is the burial place of many famous names. There are some Giotto’s paintings and two beautiful cloisters . Also, the “ Christ on the cross “ by Cimabue (1200) which was damaged by the flood in 1966 . The cappella dei Pazzi ( famous Florence family) is also part of this wonderful place. - Lucy S5 contributionsGo and have breakfast here!
This market is full of lovely produce and upstairs are eateries with delicious local foods. Well priced and lovely for breakfast or lunch. Breakfast for 4 with drinks and patisseries cost around €20, which for Florence is excellent.
