- FreeJohnnyIstanbul754 contributionsIt was wonderful structure, did not have time to go up, butt surrounding and the structure was beautiful. I had taken pictures of the structure and analyze the structure. I made plans & I will go back with my partner in May.Written March 6, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - John RHarpenden, UK117 contributionsWe had a couple of hours to kill before catching the Eurostar from Brussels to London, so we thought we’d try out the Musical Instruments Museum. It was fabulous. What a collection of hundreds of instruments of all sorts….drums, harpsichords, trumpets, ocarinas, flutes, clarinets, harps, organs, accordions, bandoneons, concertinas, pianos, pianolas , hurdy Gurdies …. just to name a few plus some very unusual ones from China and South America. There is an audio guide on which you can hear samples of the instruments playing…. Simply key in the number of the exhibit. There are beautiful harpsichords with inlaid patterns and paintings on the wood. There are three floors of instruments and I would allow 45 -60 minutes for each floor.
It is located about a 30 minutes walk or 10 min taxi ride from the Eurostar station.Written February 19, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - EvaP PWashington, DC33 contributionsBrussels is easy to navigate, I used mostly public transportation. Once you get to the most "touristy" area, everything is reachable by walking. I have seen the Gran Place, the famous Mannequin and the shopping arcades within one day. There are a lot of place to stop by and eat along the way. On a second day I visited one of the cathedrals, Museum of Money and the Royal Museum of Fine arts. Highly recommend all.Written March 8, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Nele VKortenberg, Belgium16 contributionsWe visited Illusion Brussels today (Christmas holiday, start queueing around 15.30). The staff was super friendly and helpful and all of them speak Dutch, French and English! It’s a rather small museum, yet still enjoyed it for an hour! We had to wait for a very long time, 45min+ before we could enter the museum and then still had to wait some more time inside. X people in = X people out, and in between the queue people with reserved timeslots come in between. Be warned 🙂 you cannot buy tickets in advance but you can pay for a reserved timeslot. (And then pay the normal amount for entrance at the museum itself).Written January 3, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Tom Huttom18 contributionsOn a wet day in Brussels we came across train world.
The staff on site were very knowledgable and welcoming.
The entrance is right by the train station.
There are so many exhibits to see and you have the option to use a digital guide, which is very informative.
Towards the end of the museum, there is even a train simulator, where you can drive a train!
Really worth the visit and I would highly recommend.Written November 2, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. A lot of it was TinTin though, that comic isnt very familiar to me.Written March 6, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Becky HBurnham, UK84 contributionsFascinated by the garden and Art-Deco interior. It was a really good experience for me discovering sculptures in the garden and entering the maze modelled on the mythological Daedalus.
Similarly, each room inside the house has been beautifully decorated with warm colours and fine art; it was a pleasure to discover more about the significance of David and Alice van Buuren in Uccle, Brussels.Written October 26, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Lots of focus on Belgian and European comics (I think zero mention of American superheroes).
Absolutely fascinating sections on how comics are written formatted, drawn and published. My friend and I spent ages laughing in the Boerke section.
Shame there was no section dedicated to Tintin, but at least it was available in the shop. The building itself is gorgeous and I will be seeking out comic recommendations from the museum.Written August 20, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Goes through the history of chocolate with an audio handset ending with a short demonstration. - Anto SDublin, Ireland4 contributionsA very fun way to spend an hour, lots of different illusions on show. Could do it in less than an hour but better to take your time. - TrainbleuBrussels, Belgium28,766 contributionsWe happened upon a free exhibition on the ground floor of the BELvue Museum and were glad we did. It brings together forty Art Nouveau objects from the collection of the Belgian King Baudouin Foundation by famous artists such as Victor Horta, Henry Van de Velde, and Philippe Wolfers. We loved the striking and intricate pendants designed by jeweller Philippe Wolfers. The exhibition lasts until 7 January 2024, and is particularly well documented. There is an audio guide in English, French, and Dutch and a free paper catalogue in French and Dutch. The website of the Foundation provides a free tour and extensive descriptions of the exhibits.Written August 3, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The staff was really helpful giving the best ideas for the pictures XD A bit small but I guarantee you'll stay for a while playing with the illusions and trying to figure some out. Suitable for children and it's right next to the Grand Place. Absolutely recommend!Written December 10, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
