There are several nice city parks around the Ringstrasse, this being the People's Park, one of the oldest in the city having been opened to the public in 1823. Visited this year during the early autumn and found the entire park charming with green shrubs, trees, a vibrant rose garden and monuments surrounded by bright flowerbeds. It made for a nice morning walk prior to setting off on my day of sightseeing around Innere Stradt. Well worth a visit for a morning stroll or afternoon stop to enjoy a rest amongst the Viennese also enjoying the beautiful grounds within Volksgarten.

In Vienna across the street from the entrance to the Heldenplatz - in the Maria Theresa square you shall find the monument commemorating the Archduchess of Austria and one of the most "famous" Habsburg rulers - Maria Theresia.
The monument is impressive - with the statues as the bottom pedestal and the Archduchess sitting on her throne above several meters high.
When we were visiting in November 2023 - the evening lighting wasn't the best - still it was worth a stop for a pic ....
When you are in Vienna for sure you will get to this square when you stroll in the Hofburg so is just a matter of stopping for a few minutes to take a picture and stroll on.

Erected in 1679 to commemorate the last Plague epidemics that brought so much death and suffering to the city of Vienna.
Also known as the Holy Trinity column - because of the top section of the column dedicate to the Holy Trinity.
The column has basically 3 levels- on the first level than is the level of mankind there are on several sides represented parts of the Habsburg Empire (e.g. Bohemia, Hungary, Croatia, etc.)
On the second level are depicted the angels - connecting mankind with God- and between the 2 levels, there is king Leopold I praying to God.
The last level is the representation of the Holy Trinity.
Overall a beautiful architectural creation , beautifully decorated , with gold leaf - that shines very nicely in the evening light.
And also the amount of details and the statues and divers feature are a great representation of the Baroque style decorations.
When you are in walking in the area of the Graben, I recommend you stop for a few pics , it is definitely worth it.

It is worth a visit, it is a remarkable statue and a beautiful piece of art. You can enjoy the beautiful Stadtpark, get some rest there and thinking about the great composers. It is not very crowded and it is very easy to take time to admire the monument and have a beautiful photo in the light of the sunset.

Situated within Burggarten and facing Opernring is the delightful monument to Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756-1791). It is the work of sculptor Viktor Tilgner (1896) and displays Mozart in a playful and charming manner, celebrating his musical genius, including bas-reliefs at the base of the statue of one of Mozart's most famous operas, Don Giovanni.

This is one of the most famous and popular monuments in Vienna and like the Strauss Statue at Stadtpark, seems to always have tourist groups gathering to take photos with the beloved Mozart. Visit early in the day if you want to take unobstructed pictures of Mozart and make sure to spend a few minutes viewing from different sides so as to appreciate the details of the statue and base. It is a beautiful monument to see, even if you are not a particular fan of the maestro and his works.

Located between the Schloss Schönbrunn and Gloriette. A very nice location to take some photos. If you go behind the fountain, there is a little room which directly sees the Schloss.

This monument to Maestro Ludwig van Beethoven (1770-1828) who spent much of his live in Vienna is located at Beethovenplatz around 5 minute walk southwest of Stadtpark. It is the work of German sculptor Kaspar von Zumbusch (1880) and is depicts Beethoven as a serious figure, seated and looking down upon those who stand before the monument. He is also surrounded by an allegorical arrangement of bronze angels, mythical figures and cherubs placed upon the multilevel statue base.

It is a nice monument to view and easy to combine with the various statues of musicians and artists in nearby Stadtpark. Have a look-see if you are in the area and enjoy this type of sightseeing.

Have enjoyed seeing the Empress Elisabeth "Sissi" monument at Volksgarten during past visits to the city but have usually passed by during winter months when the surrounds are cold and bare. This year we made an early autumn visit to Vienna and my does this monument, the work of architect Friedrich Ohmann (1904-07) look appealing when backed by green shrubs and colourful flowerbeds. The pool in front of the Sissi monument adds much charm and character that makes this particular monument at Volksgarten worth passing by to view for a few minutes when one plans to be in the city during warmer months of the year.

One of the most interesting monuments around Stadtpark that I've enjoyed seeing over the years is this Statue of Austrian composer, Franz Schubert (1797-1828) designed and created by Austrian sculptor Carl Kundmann (1872). It is situated in the western side of the park near the Amerling Monument.

What you see is an aged Schubert, seated in a reclined position with book and quiver in hand as if drafting a new composition. The statue stands upon a marble pedestal with bas relieves on each side. During most past visits I've viewed this monument and its peers at Stadtpark during winter when the grounds and surrounding trees have been rather bare. This time around I was fortunate enough to see the Schubert Statue during September when it is flanked by flush green trees and fronted by an attractive flowerbed. This made for very nice monument viewing conditions at this time of year.

This monument of Johannes Gutenberg (circa 1400-1468), the German inventor of the movable printing press who introduced letterpress printing that would go on to change the western world when it comes to mass publication and spread of literature and news, is located at Lugeck in front of the Lugeck.

This statue was the work of sculptor Hans Bitterlich and erected in 1900 in the presence of Kaiser Franz Josef and is worth a look-see if sightseeing or dining out in the area.

You'll find this monument to Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe (1749-1832) situated just outside the Burggarten gates at the Operning and Goethegaße intersection. This is the work of sculptor Edmund von Hellmer (1900) and is a bronze of Goethe, one of the most important German writers in history and esteemed thinker of Western philosophy, in overcoat and seated comfortably as if knowingly assured his place in history. It is a simple but thought provoking depiction of Goethe, one worth a few minutes to enjoy before or after visiting Burggarten.

The statue of Prince Eugen of Savoy is on public display in Vienna Hofburg at the Heldenplatz.
He was a true hero of the Habsburg empire and the choice for the equestrian statue suites it's status. He was also the general commanding the Austrian armies that freed Timisoara of the Turkish occupation back in 1716.
The statue is impressive truly honoring the hero that Prinz Eugen was.
Visiting is free of charge - it is on public display.
We were visiting in the evening - so the lighting wasn't the best for pictures but for sure it was worth making the stroll to the statue and taking some pictures.

This monument stands in tribute to Johann Andreas von Liebenberg, an Austrian politician and Mayor of Vienna in 1680, supervising the defensive preparations during the Ottoman Invasion.

The monument is in the shape of an obelisk on a stepped pedestal. The obelisk is topped with a gilded figure of Victoria. Around the pedestal are bronze sculptures of a life-sized lion, lying down with one paw over the broken sword and shield of an Ottoman infantry, and two bronze cherubs hold a gilt Liebenberg portrait medallion. On the steps at the back is a bronze cartouche with the double-headed eagle.

An elaborate and good looking monument.
